Simply Rugged
What opinions do you folks have on the Simply Rugged holsters? I have two att. one for a Model 1911 and one
for my S&W .44 special. One is 5 years old and one is
3 years old. So far I am well pleased with both. I am
considering ordering another for my single action Colt
and was just wondering if anyone is using these.
They seem to have reasonable prices and I had good
service on past purchases.

I don't have any of their holsters, but I have been using their speed strip belt pouch for several years. Good quality.
I also had one of their split-six speedloader pouches. Also good quality, but I went away from the split-six pouches and sold it.

I love 'em. They are what they say they are, simple and rugged, well-designed, well-built of quality materials.

I bought a silver dollar pancake from Simply Rugged about the time they
were leaving Alaska. The holster wasn't bad, but I ordered a belt with it.
The belt was limp as a wet noodle. Colors didn't come very close to
matching either. As an old teacher, I would rate the holster a C and the
belt an F. Shown below with Colt's Agent, and My silver dollar birth year
buckle. (1935)

Well, I’m a big Simply Rugged Fan. Have one for just about every firearm I own. The latest is for my new LCR in .327 Federal Magnum. Received it seven days after placing my order on line.

I love the 2-3 I have. All are pancake holsters that allow me to wear them on my chest, utilizing their Chesty Puller system. It's very comfortable and the exact position is adjustable.
When walking, in a tree stand, riding an ATV or tractor, the chest holster is perfect. The quality of all of mine is perfect for what I do. You can get them with stamping and dressed up trim, but I'm fine with just their standard holster. I'm sticking with them.

I love my simply rugged holsters. My first was a sourdough pancake for a 3 in 686.Also got the strap to make it a chest rig great woods combo. But I left it in living room and my Bouvier des flanders dog thought it looks good 686 was left unharmed on his dog bed holster disappeared as a leather treat.Right now I am searching for a carved silver dollar pancake for my 640 . Last remember it laying on my bed. Doc my dog is looking very satisfied with himself again.Arrrgh expensive chew toys.

Thanks for all the replies. Made up my mind to order again, I just get the plain leather holsters, can't afford some of the fancy and exotic

Pretty much the first thing I do when buying a new gun, revolvers in particular, is to order a Simply Rugged holster for it.

While I wasn't really pleased with the "pilling" inside the holster, the fit and the design were very nice. I found I could carry a 3" N Frame all day and not be bothered by the weight.

I have had two silver dollar pancakes for several years and like them a lot. They work just fine and give good protection of the firearm with good access as well. Not fancy but they work.

I've had a number of them. My opinion is, for field/hunting rigs they are very good, but for EDC, especially IWB, I like other manufacturers better.

I have several friends who swear by them and there's no doubt Rob Leahy's a great guy, but I find I don't use the Silver Dollar Pancake with IWB straps that I bought for my SP-101 very often. (It also pills inside like H Richard's, and the straps have gotten wrinkly - though they still appear to be doing the job just fine.) I've not gotten another because, well, I can buy other holsters that do the job for me for less money from Remora. Personal taste as to what you're looking for in a holster, I guess: I certainly hold Simply Rugged in high regard as a trustworthy company and - as I said - I have a lot of friends who swear by them.

I wear a SR holster every day. I have two sourdough pancake holsters, one for my 3" GP100 .44 Spl and the other for my 4" Model 10. They fit snugly against my side and the nature of how the pants belt runs through it makes sure the gun is secure inside the holster. It also covers/protects the gun very well.
My next one (a Silver Dollar pancake) will be for my 2.25" SP101.

My opinion?
There are no finer at that price.
They are exactly what they say, SIMPLY RUGGED. An absolute bargain for the quality you get. Worth ever dime!!

Like several others above, I have them for most of my DA and SA revolvers. They hold even the biggest guns high and tight to the body...some people like their gun like that others don't.
The one semi-auto holster I have from them is one of their Barracuda models. SR was THE only company to immediately be able to make a leather holster after the long slide Glock 40 came out. Not even sure if anyone else makes a leather holster for a G40 today...

I like my SR Pancake quite a bit. It makes carrying a large revolver around the farm pretty comfortable.

I found a SR sourdough in a pawn shop long ago. It was $15.99 and in a bag marked "Don Hume N Frame."
It has always done exactly what I needed it to do.

I have two and love them - one natural for a 4" 19-3, one burgundy for a 6" 686. Don't be mislead by the 'soft' look of the images - they are stiff leather perfectly molded specifically to your gun.

I have two, and I love them. The only reason I don't have more is I found a local guy who does great work and is cheaper.
