Default Kudos For DeSantis Holsters

We've all seen both compliments and teeth-gnashing regarding various manufacturers in the gun industry. After years of service, I broke a snap on a DeSantis Slant Shoulder rig. The snap was on the adaptor that joins the shoulder harness to the holster.
"No problem," said the service-lady. They will send a replacement set of four and they don't need to see the broken adaptor.

I might add that you can spend twice as much for a competing holster and it will be no better than a DeSantis.

I have only one Desantis shoulder holster and initially I questioned the use of the snap adapters. After thinking about it, their use of snap adapters does allow one to swap out magazine pouches or holsters or replace worn adapters without having to trash the expensive components.

FWIW, this is the main reason why I don't like holsters with snap loops that aren't replaceable. Snaps wear out.

The mag pouch I'm currently using has non-replaceable snap loops, and I've been seriously considering going to a mag pouch with regular belt slots.

Gene DeSantis and his company are former clients of mine as Nichols Innovation; and I'll testify that they were and are good people :-).

When my Bianchi fanny pack holster wore out after many years of service, I found they no longer make them. Desantis makes a "Gunny Sack" which uses velcro, and a "Gunny Sack II which uses a zipper. I bought the velcro model and couldn't be happier, it is very well made, and better than the Bianchi model, in my opinion.

I regularly use DeSantis holsters I bought in1977, including two different style shoulders. I knew Gene back when the company was a two man shop. He's a really good guy. Most of the DEA and Customs agents I worked with carried in DeSantis leather. ( I may have the only Luger speed scabbard he ever made). Best, Joe

I use DeSantis holsters for all my semi-auto's. Quality product at a reasonable price.

I own a bunch of DeSantis holsters. I see them as a good working man's holster and a good bang for the buck. They are a reputable Company and they do stand behind their workmanship.

That said, IMHO they are simply not in the same league as Kramer Leather's products, HOWEVER neither are their prices. To me what differentiates the brands are that the Kramer Horsehide holsters need NO retention straps, snaps, tension screws etc. to properly hold the gun securely but yet still allow a fast draw. DeSantis leather holsters are a bit too floppy soon after they get broken in and carried on a daily basis in the real world.

But once again, DeSantis Leather sells popularly priced holsters and for the money they cost are pretty descent.

I have used several DeSantis Super Speed holsters over the years, like
the one shown, at left, with my S&W 642-1.

The DeSantis Dual Angle Hunter, shown 2nd from left, is a handy
cross-draw. I use it with my Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk
.44 Magnum.

When the FBI Hostage Rescue Team adopted the 1911 as their
official sidearm they went looking for a holster. They chose a DeSantis
HRT (Hostage Rescue Team), Shown 3rd from left with my Colt's 1911
Gold Cup.

DeSantis is a good company and they make good products.

This is my only DeSantis holster. (I think.) It set me back all of $20.00 on that [x]Bay thing. It holds my Ruger EC9s securely with no "floppiness." Right now, due to back and hip issues, it's my EDC. I like it a lot. (The first picture is outdated. I use the high slot on the front because it conceals the pinky rest magazine better.)
