Pancake Holster for 2.0 Compact

I might pick up a pancake holster for my 2.0 Compact. I want as tight to body as possible and I prefer a thumb snap. I’ve used the Desantis in the past. Anything tighter in? I’ve heard good things about the Galco as well. Black only. I don’t like tan holsters.

My first recommendation with striker pistols: if they don't have an external manual safety, never carry them in holsters; because even the holster can fire a pistol that has no safety (auto) or the equivalent in a long double action trigger (revolver). It's what holsters do and have done, always, since triggers began to be covered late 20th century.

My compact does have a safety, but how can a holster fire a weapon? Unless a strap or snap gets in tbe trigger. I carried a Glock for many years no problem. So do millions of others. If you can’t carry a striker fired weapon in a holster then how do you carry one?

Huh??? I've been carrying striker fired pistols with no thumb safety (Glock & M&P [+ 1911]) in holsters of different kinds for many years and have never experienced that. The only thing that I can think of is when the knucklehead attempts to holster his/her pistol while their finger is still on the trigger. I have witnessed that happen with my own eyes.

Op, I know you said you wanted a thumb snap (or some kind of equivalent), but I've never had any problems with pancake holsters without them. I got this MESC holster (made in Turkey) for my 1911 Defender. Excellent quality holster. I put them right up there with DeSantis & Safariland. They come in black or brown.



Also carry my Shield and Compact in these..



The pistols hold nice and snug, even while running, jumping, etc.

Carry whatever you're the most comfortable with.

I don't have any experience with them, but I know Mitch Rosen makes a pancake holster with thumb break that might suit your needs. I'm not sure if they make one for your gun, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. They have two lines, Premier and Express. The Premier line is the high-end holsters, with longer wait times. The Express line is less expensive with a quicker turnaround. It might be worth checking them out.

Yeah. I’ve used non thumb strap ones and I know they work but I prefer the strap. Just what I learned with. I have a few Kydex ones and they work but they just see range use.

My point exactly :-). In the years before retirement from gunleather I would not build for striker pistols without an external safety of some variant. A 1911 with a grip and thumb safety can be carried in several ways and no error will cause the pistol to be fired even with the finger on the trigger. Can't say that about Glocks, for example; and Safariland's list of lawsuits (I have several pages of them in my files) for holstered Glocks is quite long. And don't think I'm thinking about law: I think of it as a list of people who were shot, who thought they were safe!

As you know a live situation with a finger on the trigger of a Glock is not like a movie where the good guy can simply dodge the bullet when he realizes; it's through you or someone else before one even hears the report. And the ones who bled out don't post here :-(. We all have to be smarter than the situation even if the folks who design and make striker pistols aren't and don't absolutely prevent the trigger from being pulled until it's bang time (that little piece in the trigger is not a safety, it's there to block the trigger from moving when the pistol is dropped!).

Try a look at Classic Holsters . com. I got a really nice paddle holster with snap from them for a CZ 75 which was made by Vega holsters. I just finished ordering another one for my Beretta 81, paddle holster with snap.

my personal favorites for several years now have been Azula holsters made in S. Africa. they run around $50.00 shipped. i use them for both revolvers and autos. good, tight ride and all have been a perfect fit. lee

I have two non-thumb break Mitch Rosen express-line pancakes (5JR-EXP) and love them. Very high quality holsters that ride tight. I'm too impatient to wait for a premier line holster, maybe someday.
