Default Super Nice Gift!

Our personal friend, lawandorder, was gracious enough to send my son a beautiful Roy’s Leather Holster (Magnolia AR) for his K 22 Masterpiece. It is a beautiful, well made holster and will be much used and appreciated.

It is as wet here as I have ever seen in my adult lifetime. 70% chance today, 100% tomorrow.

I found out from Tony that Roy’s Leather is Roy Baker of pancake holster fame. I could have just done a bit of research on this fine forum!

Casting call: Roy Baker Pancake holsters

Thanks for sharing the pics. Very nice looking holster! Judging from the stitching I’d guess it is a lined model? Your boy is really growing up! I’ve enjoyed your photos of him over the years.

A great gift to be treasured forever!

Roy Baker was one of the best of the volume producers. Excellent designs, and his development of the pancake-style is legendary in the business. A great disappointment that his company did not survive him.

"Roy Baker the Pancake Maker". I gave away my one and only Baker
Pancake on a Karma deal here years ago. Then when I read Holstory
I realized how important Roy Baker's contribution was to holster development.
So, I set out looking for another one. I wanted strapless.
When I want my gun, I want it quick, and don't want to fool with some
strap. Well, I found out old Roy didn't make very many strapless
pancakes, but I kept looking. Finally found the one shown here with
my Colt's Agent. I was a little disappointed to find that it was 3" instead
of 2". But then my friend, Red Nichols, pointed out to me that with much
of the cylinder weight above the belt it would have a tendency to tip
outward. But the extra inch in length would help to nullify that tipping.
Bottom line, I like it a lot. Those boots on my agent are by Craig Spegel.

Talking Straps PLEASE

I was lucky enough to buy several of his pancakes when you could buy them new !!!!. The ones I still have left have been in service for more than 45 years. None are strapless. After 45 years lots of heavy things above the waist benefit from straps !!!
