Default S.D. Myres Brillalikes

I added another early Myres Threepersons holster to my collection recently. The Myres models 633 ( plain )and 666 ( floral carved ) were cataloged in 1931 and 1934, the 633 had been dropped from the line by the 1940 catalog and the 666 was changed substantially, it no longer had a front cuff.
Both of these examples fit Colt single action revolvers, they are very handy holsters to carry such a revolver.
Regards,
turnerriver

1931 & 1934 catalog cut showing both models.

1950 catalog showing changed model 666 in the upper right.

That 666 is quite devilish. I’ll give you full catalog for it. $4+.25 postage if you are interested.

My little Brill look alike collection started with this Ranger model, by
Doc Barranti, with an added "dog ear". Shown at left with model 19.

Then Red Nichols made me this Brill-Persons, second from left, with
Colt's 1911 GCNM.

About the same time I got another Brill look for my Colt from David Keith.

And finally, the real McCoy from turnerriver. Shown with 4" model 10.
Thanks John.

I'd have a hard time ordering a "666" holster.
Turnerriver, I have a question. A little off the thread subject but I've been wondering how long have you been collecting holsters and what got you started collecting them?
Sorry if you've discussed this before.

John, I think the plain holster might have been one I was admiring and the price was low at the time I saw it, but I had no intention of bidding. It went to a Very good home. The carved holster looks especially sturdy and is a great looking one, too.

John I’m glad you got that bordered stamped Myres! It’s even better looking in your photos.

At first glance in the ad I thought it was a copy of a Myers because I focused on the border stamp. I can’t recall personally seeing that before. Then of course I saw the maker stamp.

I thought that model number was a strange selection as well.
I ordered this Myres rig when I was 16 or 17 (50 years ago) , the black Berns-Martin at the same time. I ordered the Lawrence model 120 in the late 1970’s. I wanted good quality leather for my guns, my interest grew from there. My collection grew exponentially when eBay started in 1995, the holsters and belts I sought were few and far between at gun shows although I’d managed to find some over the years. I think I really started learning about the makers when I started my catalog library.
Regards,
turnerriver
