Safariland for 3" Revolver...
Picked up this neat Safariland basketweave holster that was advertised to fit a 4" revolver. I thought it looked a little short and took a chance. Sure enough it's a great fit for my 696.....

That was a nice find. This is the first I've heard of Safariland manufacturing that holster for a three inch barrel revolver.
Learning has occurred!

Was that the model used by US Customs inspectors? They are about the only agency that I know of that for sure had uniformed personnel with 3" L frames.
Very nice!

I don't know about the department these were made for, but I think you're on the right track. It's marked Model 29.

That is my favorite holster. I have a number of them in K and N frame and a Ruger Redhawk-black, tan, lined and unlined, plain and basket weave. 4", 5 1/2" and 6 1/2".
The Model 29 stamping is Safariland's model number. A Model 25 is the same holster, high ride and butt forward, only with a strap over the hammer instead of a thumb break.
