How do you carry your model 19
Hello all,
Just bought a model 19 carry comp. I typically carry semi autos in the AIWB position— wondering how you are all carrying your mode 19’s, or K frame wheel guns? AIWB, 4 o’clock, OWB?
Also, do you recommend a leather holster maker?

Right behind my strong side hip, just like all my concealed handguns.

Don't carry mine any longer. As much as I love it, I've transitioned into a Sig P365 with double the round count, half the weight, smaller profile and quicker reloads. Now don't get me wrong here.... I still love my M19, 65, 15, 10, etc. etc. just no longer carry them EXCEPT when walking in the woods in Bear Country. For that I use my 3" M65 in a leather OWB holster. Buffalo Bore 180 grain Hard Cast LSWC Magnums are in the Cylinder along with a few reloads.

When I had a 3" 65 I mostly carried it in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II IWB holster at about 3:30-4:00. Good holster. Comfortable and concealable. I also used a 1.5" Beltman double-layer gun belt for support.
Other holster makers I've used that make good quality gear include, in no particular order, Kramer Handgun Leather, Side Guard Holsters, and TT Gunleather.
I'd also suggest doing a search in this subforum as well as the Concealed Carry subforum as this topic comes up fairly frequently.

For either of these, when I choose to carry them, they go in an El Paso Saddlery black pancake OWB holster, covered by a loose shirt or jacket (as the weather dictates) at 4 o'clock.

Most of my carry is in the woods/fields. I very much like a Bianchi Cyclone 111 cross-draw holster. This holster can also be worn strong side. This method is especially good for winter when I must wear a heavy coat. It is also good for when I'm out in the rain since is is easily accessible whether the coat is zipped/buttoned up or open. Sincerely. bruce.

Here, on the left, is my 19-4. I bought it new back around 1980. If my
memory is correct it was about $250 at that time. About 20 years ago
I sent it to S&W for a tune up. While there I had the Mcgivern gold bead
installed up front. The stocks are Jordan Troopers by Herretts.
A couple of years ago I was surfing ebay and found an old Lawrence
model 34 "extra quick draw" holster. It was dirty, smelled like it came
from a smoker, and had a worn out retention strap. I had a "before"
photo, but I foolishly deleted it for some reason.
I cleaned it up, removed the strap, plugged up the hole, and it has
become my favorite carry for my Model 19, shown 2nd from left.
When I carry it, it's strong side at about 4 O'Clock.
3rd from left is a Seventrees that our friend turnerriver let me have.
It is a good choice if I happen to be wearing a suit jacket, because the
"dog ear" prevents the rear sight and/or hammer spur from shredding
the lining of the jacket.
4th from left is a kinda Brill looking holster with the "dog ear" that
Doc Barranti made for me. It's his Ranger model with the dog ear
added.
5th from left is an updated version of Hume's Jordan Border Patrol
with a thumb break. The "Sidewinder" belt was a gift from my
friend Red Nichols.

All my revolvers and bigger semis get carried IWB strongside just forward of 3 o'clock. Glocks and other flat semis can also go around 5 o'clock or so, not small of back but slightly offset. I'm a big guy and that's where my muffin top conceals things the best. Typical 4 o'clock carry stands out like a sore thumb on me and I'm not a fan of appendix carry. I also always have an LCP in my pocket.

Crazyphil-love the knife
Crazyphil,
The holsters are great. But what type and manufacture is the knife you have paired with them...looks like an awesome Bowie?
Thanks,
Bill W

I carry mine in a Rodek Leather pancake. For the woods I carry a 4 inch in an Idaho Leather, Boise Id. Not made anymore but might be had on the internet.

Thank you WildBill. The faux stag handled Bowie is by Sharps.
It was not very expensive at all, but it is quite photogenic. The
folder is a Bear.
