Default How about a S&W Holster Thread?

I was hoping that Phil would start this one also. Since we are a S&W Forum a thread on S&W holsters seems right. My best is of course this Model 11 size 39 C (carved) tha looks new and came with a box.

My B501 size 34 safety holster is like my last police Duty revolver holster before we transitioned to Semi Autos in 1992.

For a 6" K frame verticle Sholder holster the S&W model 45 size 36 works best for me. I like the offset velcro covered belt attachment device that helps with concealement.

The Model 22 is a nicely designed holster. I have 2 Basket Weave model 22s in size 36 and 34.

This thread is a great idea Jim. I'm glad you started it.
BTW that is a great looking carved model. Don't see many of them.

In 1965 Bangor-Punta acquired Smith & Wesson. They wanted to grow
the company, so sometime between 1967 and 1969 they acquired the
company previously owned by Wally Wolfram. Wally had called his line
Blazers. S&W took the name which became one of their most popular
lines also. Blazer models are marked 21. Lined versions 22.
Jim's basket weave example above is a Blazer with lining.

In 1981 S&W trademarked a synthetic leather holster and called it
"Wessonhide". If you go shopping for a Wessonhide holster, just look
for the model number 19 at the far left. To the right of the model number
is the size.

There is a 1978 S&W holster size chart somewhere here on the Forum.
Here are a few popular sizes:
2" J Frame size 62
4" Model 10 size 34 6" size 36
4" Model 15 size 44 6" size 46
4" Model 19 size 54 6" size 56
4" Model 29 size 24 6" 26
You can probably find the chart with the Search function.

Here is my model 19 (Wessonhide) size 32 that I bought for my S&W
model 10 with 2" barrel. The belt is by Haugen. The knife is a Puma
Prince. The grips are Grasshorns.

Here's one for my 3" Model 31-1. It's an 02 63 CLH.

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

I have more, but don't think I've taken any photos yet. They include the following:

02 72 CLH
22 43 LH
02 64 CLH
02 72 CLH (A different one than the one above)
02 64 LH
20 32 LH
20 63 LH

I'll look for more photos, but expect I will have to snap a bunch of new photos to get all these represented.

That's a beautiful specimen Dave. Like I told Jim, we don't see a lot of
carved S&Ws. It's also easy to see the influence of Wally Wolfram in the
design of yours. CLH is obviously carved left handed.

Default Nothin special, nothin fancy

Like said....nothin special or fancy, just a trusted friend for eons whether on person EDC, in truck console while at work w/ a company that didn't allow carry in office, on the job (heavy construction), or even "travel" (anybody remember those old days) long, long before TSA and even before Ronnie in the White House.

S&W Model B 502, size 32, fit my 2" J Frame guns (Model 36, 60, 637-2).

You guys got some fancy leather for sure...I've got to keep my eye out for some....especially like that one for Model 39..my 39-2 goes to the range in a gun rug, and dang...I like to show off so got to get one sooner rather than later.

By the way.....a piece of trivia for you real honest to goodness experts on S&W leather...my daughter is a LEO in North Carolina and she lived for a while in Lillington, NC and during that time she told me that S&W actually had a factory in that town years earlier, producing S & W leather goods. Any of you have comment? True/False, any old pics, know dates of operation, etc.

Wow KO! What a collection. You must have been their best
customer. That 2nd rig that you show, that looks like patent
leather, was a product called clarino. A lot of the makers used
it for LE products.

Smith & Wesson sold a lot of holsters over the years as has been shown here. I think the hardest model to find is Phil’s favorite, the FBI model number 01. The 1st S&W holster catalog was this one, dated Feb. 3, 1969.

The next catalog is dated September 1969, it does not list model 01 which was offered for only 6 months.

Here is an example of holster model 01. Size code 52 is for a 2 1/2” .357 Combat Magnum.

The Wolfram made S&W holsters were identical to the Colt branded ones.

I bought this rig recently, the holster has the Colt logo & the belt is a Smith & Wesson.

Regards,
turnerriver

I did have an FBI model in plain black, but it was left handed, so I gave
it to a left-handed friend. Never have found another one.

The S&W model 21 size 34 could be their answer to the Hunter Holster line.

This model 02 size 62 makes a good home for this early model 60.

This model 04 size 24 covered this 4" N frame.

The Basket weave black model 04 size 72 works with either Hammerless or hammer model j frame 2".

I had not ever seen this S&W model 23 Shoulder holster size 63 until I found this one that was so new it had not been put together.

Yours is the only other one I've ever even seen.
I unfortunately don't have a Model 39 to use it with, but it fits my Browning Hi-Powers nicely!

I somehow missed this SMITH & WESSON model 29 size 32 but it is quite long enough for a 2 1/2" K frame and the shown model 19-3 3" just barely peeks out.

The S&W model 15-2 2" above has more than enough barrel space. Picture below shows the Model 19-3 3" front sight and barrel peeking out on the front side of the holster.

Bangor Punta started their holster division, sometime between
1967 and 1969. turnerriver said their first catalog was dated
1969. In 1979 Bangor Punta sold their holster division to Bob
Gould, the manager of the division, and he took in a partner.
I thought Bob and his partner Goodrich, still operate the business
known as Gould and Goodrich in Lillington, N.C., but I recently
read that there is a new owner.

Here are two S&W branded holsters that were made by Wally Wolfram's
company prior to the time that S&W went into their own holster business.
On the left is a size 02 with a Charter Undercover.
On the right is a size 05 with an S&W Model 10 4" barrel.
