Boy - nice looking holster. I expect it would pop even more if dyed.
The Barton flap thingee is really interesting. Could you talk about how you carry it and how it feels to you?
Do you need a stiffer belt? Does it ever shift? Is the high center of gravity solid on a Commander?

Barton Special holsters are cool, and looks like Doc does some quality work to me. Your pictures are fantastic too.
One thing I am curious about. How is he able to use the SD Myres makers mark?

Larry,
Here is an old post where Doc revealed that he was now the caretaker of the original stamps.

For me, this is the answer to Texas law that states if you have a handgun visible in a vehicle, then it has to be attached to your body via a holster. The Barton Special allows me to shift the holster while driving to a more comfortable position if necessary. And (gasp) even remove it and set it on the console for a while if necessary. It is a cross draw so it is readily available on my left side.
It rides nicely, the center of gravity is excellent. I have no doubt that it will stay where I put it and the Colt comes out but the holster stays put as it should.
My regular belt is sufficient, but then, I wear a high quality lined Vogt belt which is pretty stiff anyway.
Tio Sam used a thin piece of leather with a stiffener of some sort stitched inside, whereas Doc uses one thick piece of leather for the "flap. Comparing the two, the Barranti-Myres is a little stiffer and possibly more secure.

Thanks for the link. In my older age, I completely forgot I had seen that years ago. In fact, I replied in the thread. The last post in that thread by Red is kinda what I was wondering .

Larry,
Tickles me that Red went on to include the Berns Martin name on some of his.

Very nice indeed! Your excellent photos show the quality well.
I note that you say your Barton Special is a crossdraw. I see no mention of this on the Barranti site, nor was I aware that this design was made in a crossdraw. Was it a special order? Or is it just the way you choose to wear it?
I find carrying my DS OWB more comfortable than in a pocket holster for our long walks, but it is tiresome putting it on when I leave the house and taking it off when I return. At this point in life, I’m not planning on doing any gymnastics so I think the design would be secure enough for me. And while not a high ride, since the DS is a small revolver, I think an untucked shirt or sweater would cover it pretty well.
Seeing this post, I may well spring for one. Price is pretty stiff, but looks worth it.

There was no mention of that holster on the site, but I find Doc to be very accommodating. I feel I got my money's worth.

Have several Barrantis, best leather I've ever worn. Wore gunleather for a living for 37 years. Barranti and Purdy Gear are museum quality leather. Barranti is quicker 6 months. Purdy up to 18, expensive but beautiful.
