Silly me. I thought that an M60 with one belt of ammo draped over my shoulder was a bit heavy. (ROK, '83-'84, M60 gunner for base QRF)

I would be happy with a belt fed Ruger Mk II pistol. :-)

Have a blessed day,

I was head gunner for our 3 man M60 team. I had an ammo carrier & a belt feeder, much better that way.

Actually, it looks kind of like the set up in the Predator movie way back in 1987, except they used the backpack to feed a minigun.

So 33 years later, they think they have something new...

There are other backpack ammo carriers, but this one is sturdier, several pounds lighter, holds a third more ammo, and costs one tenth the price of the existing alternative. So they say.

The guy in the picture isn't crouched down and leaning into the M60, it's just as straight as he can stand with the weight.

Actually 650 rounds of M80 ball only weighs about 42.5 pounds. However, after carrying it and a 23 pound M60 all day long up and down hills, in soft sand, through mud, or heavy foliage that 42.5 pounds (plus the weight of the pack) will feel like 100 pounds.

Put that setup on a Toyota Technical and I'd be happy.

Perfect for the issue mentioned in the bicycle thread. With a handlebar mounted M60 and this backpack you'll be good to go

And not having to lug around a battery pack for the minigun would also save weight.

The reason that the AR-15 was adopted in the 1960s was a firepower demonstration by a couple shooters using back packs loaded up with 223 Rem ammo that showed the TOP BRASS fire power that they had never seen the likes of.
