Default SITTING BULL'S HOLSTER

Over the past many years I have read a lot of gun magazines.
I would usually cut out articles, pictures, and ads of particular
interest to me. I have filled 18 of the large 3" 3 ring binders
with those articles, pictures, and ads. Here is a picture that I
thought might interest some of you holster fans. You can place
your curser on the photo to enlarge the thumbnail. Then you
can click on the photo once or twice to enlarge it more.

Interesting. Thank you.

Somehow I didn't expect Sitting Bull to have had a .36 Whitney revolver.

Very cool- I agree with Kurusu, I don’t picture him with a revolver like that.

I didn't expect he would have a holster either, you would think he might use a sash or belt. {I bet his wife made it up for him...............................M*

That's nice the Indians thought to inscribe it in English, rather than their language.

Actually Indians did use revolvers back in the day. Google: "Images of Native Americans with Revolvers".

I don't know if that is or is not Sitting Bulls revolver because it's before my time but I don't see any reason why Sitting Bull wouldn't own a revolver. They are great for short range offense and defense.
I like the holster and gun. As one of my mentors would say: If they could talk I bet they could tell some stories of fighting and loving. Larry

It was the 1880s version of inscribing your SS number on the sideplate of your S&W Registered Magnum......

"Who takum chief's gun!?!?!

American Indian Tribes {Sitting Bull was Lakota Sioux} didn't have a written language at the period in question.

So, assuming that the provenance holds up, the revolver and holster were marked following Sitting Bull's death (December 15, 1890 at the standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota).

Fearless Farris, who had the Stinker service stations, used to put up signs
along the highway, kinda like Burma Shave did. Except his signs sometimes told the story on just one sign. I remember one for exampls:
"SITTING BULL STOOD UP HERE"
