Default REYES HOLSTER HISTORY?

Do any of you holster fans know anything about Reyes history?
If so, please add what you know to this thread. Here's what
little I know:

Cleto Reyes was born in 1920 in Mexico City. He went to work
for a saddler at age 12. His school was right across the street
from a boxing arena, so he became interested in boxing.

At age 18 he had his first amateur fight. He took a pounding
and decided boxing was not for him, but he combined his interest
in boxing and saddlery training to start repairing boxing gloves.

He started making boxing gloves, and by 1945 his gloves were
used in a world championship fight. Over the years his gloves
became famous and were used by many champions including
Joe Lewis, George Foreman, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson,
Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Oscar De La Hoya, Leon Spinks,
Muhammad Ali and even Rock Balboa.

Apparently other products were added as the years went by,
and in 1979 his son formed Reyes Industries. I have not been
able to figure out when holsters came in or went out of the
picture. I bought a Reyes holster a couple of years ago. It was
in deplorable condition, but I rehabbed it. It is shown at left
below.

A couple of others were not maker marked, but made in Mexico,
shown 2nd and 3rd from left. BTW the revolver is my model 10
with 2" barrel.

If you have anything to add, particularly with his holster end of
the business, please add to this thread.

I purchased a Reyes holster in the same style as your first picture in an Army surplus/sporting goods store in Michigan in the late 1970s. It is marked ".357" and both a 4" Colt Lawman and a 3.5" M27 fit in it, although the 4" M28 for which I bought it wouldn't quite.

The only 4" K frame in the house these days is my wife's 67, so I staged this with a 2" Lawman MK III.

I too would like some history. I didn't know about the boxing glove connection.

That's a mighty handsome one you have for your 1911.
Floral carved, laced and red suede lining. What more
could one want?

Thanks to Phil's mention of Reyes in his book I grabbed this one on an auction last year. A 5" holster marked 357. My 5" M&P fits well.

My friend Red read this thread. His take away is that I was reporting as
fact that Cleto Reyes was also the holster maker. That was not my
intention. That is why I asked the questions for help if anyone knows if
Cleto was the Reyes holster maker, and when and where holster making
might have entered into his other business interests. The title
of the thread is REYES HOLSTER HISTORY? Notice the big
question mark.

Since no one has shared a marker's mark yet, here goes.
