New Carry Leather
As many know, I EDC an ACP N frame in a Brill-a-like holster. I wanted something a bit closer to the real thing and found a fellow on this board who was willing to help me. He took his time, studied what literature was available and build this holster. A perfect fir for my converted Model 28-2 Foothills Revolver or my Model 625-6 Mountain Gun.
I have worn it for about a week and it is comfortable and secure.

This particular holster, compared to my other Brill-a-likes, is made of thinner leather, has a half lining that extends over the flap of the holster (originally to protect the wearer’s clothing), is properly fitted at the welt for a secure grip on the revolver, and has the toe of the holster sewn to the skirt to pull everything closer to the body for better concealment.
MAtt did a fine job on this and worked hard to keep it authentic. Overall, to say I am pleased would be an understatement.

Lovely! Would your buddy make a holster like that for an antique S&W break-top in .44 Russian with a 4" barrel? Would he ship to Canada?

Hopefully he will drop in and see your request. He may contact you, or not, on this thread or by PM.

I am not good at taking photographs and these were rushed to boot. I wish I could show better detail.

That belt is a standard, off the shelf belt. I will dig around and find the maker. I buy them in bunches and alternate wearing them so they wear evenly.
Same thing with my boots, I can make it through the week without wearing the same pair.

I like everything I see as well. Aside from a very nice holster, my mouth is drooling over the stags on the model 28. I just got a set very similar in appearance from Bigmtnman on this forum. Are those Ken Grasshorns? T Grip adapter is sweet looking too.

On the round butt Model 28-2, the elks are from Ken Driscoll. Pat Grashorn did the elks on the 625-6 Mountain Gun.

Almost a year with this holster and it is still wearing beautifully. It even fits my Model 25-2.

Kevin - I think you have a very authentic looking early Brill there.
I just bought an early Brill on the internet and the features of yours
match up pretty well.
Chic Gaylord is called the father of concealment holsters, but in my
opinion that honor should go to Captain Hughes. In 1907 He visited
W. T. Wroe Saddlery in Austin. He had very specific instructions for
the holster he wanted. It seems the folks in Austin were complaining
about all the men walking around town with their hogleggs hanging on
their hip. Hughes wanted the holster to be light and ride high on the hip
so it could be concealed beneath the suit jacket. He called it his
"Sunday holster".
The salesman that waited on Hughes was August W. Brill. The young
apprentice tasked with making the holster was Newt Rabensburg.
August Brill went on to buy the Kluge Bros. Saddlery, and Charles Kluge
made the Brill holster for him up until 1932. (I learned this through the
posts by turnerriver with credit to Red Nichols). So the "early style"
Brills were made until 1932.
After 1932 most all of the Brills were made for the Brills, by Newt Rabensburg,
because the Brills, father and son Arnold, had become more interested in real
estate development.
Around 1939 Arnold (called Arno) spent about a year in El Paso helping
S. D. Myres develop his holster business, including the Tom Threepersons,
but that is another story.
Years ago, when I got interested in Brills, I never thought I would find
one, and if I did I would probably not be able to afford it, so I had the
one on the left made by Doc Barranti. Then, due to the generosity of
turnerriver, I did get the genuine Brill shown 2nd from left.

Strawhat - I would kinda like to see a picture of the back of your holster
if it's not too much trouble.

Wow, it has been a year since I first started wearing this holster. It is still everything I wrote about it, lightweight, secure and easy to look at. I need a floral carved one for Sundays!

Not me, the forum member who built it deserves the credit. If he wants to identify himself, but he has indicated he built me two Brill holsters, the first and last!

You inspired and made it happen ... that's a big part of getting a project done !
The Forum Member must not want to follow in John Bianchi's footsteps ... seems like he got started making holster's in a similar way ... one for himself , then , one for a friend ...and then the ball started rolling !
