Default Unusual Holster?

This holster was in an auction lot I bought recently; it is marked "Precision Holstering U.S. patent 6.283.351". I find neither the company ( not Precision Holsters) or the patent # anywhere. Seems the belt functions as part of the design to hold the firearm? Seems to work pretty well. Anybody know the company or familiar with this design?
Thanks

The patent info is readily available. Patent numbers have comma's in them. Not periods.

I don't think it's a design, it looks genuine, STING RAY!

When I Google search U.S. Patent 6,283,351 I get a 10 page patent document. It shows a patent date in 2001 and a modification to the patent in 2002.

Looks like a Yaqui holster but with a thumb strap.

Quote:
"A universal handgun carrying system, more commonly known as a holster, is provided for waist belt support, for positioning and carrying both semi-automatic and revolver type handguns. Inside and outside sheet-like panel members composed of leather or other suitable material are joined only at the front, so as to provide a universal holster assembly having an open rear portion that is closed by the waist belt of the user. Each of the inner and outer panels defines a body section having a pair of belt slots, with the front belt slots of both panels in registry and with the rear belt slots offset from one another. Projections, being preferably integral with the body sections, extend upwardly from the inner and outer panels and are provided with fastening devices such as snaps. One of the projections defines a retention strap and is adapted to be bent over the upper portion of a handgun to secure the handgun within the holster. The holster assembly utilizes the waist belt of the user and the mass or weight of the handgun in integrated relation with the inner and outer panels to provide for efficient positioning and secure retention of the handgun."

It is kind of like a Yaqui; except the belt completes the backing making it adjustable for different firearms. Going to try a few different ones. This may be a keeper; plus it looks cool.

Very cool holster. Extreme minimalist! Very much like the DeSantis Simple Belt slide. A stripped down Yaqui if that's even possible but Ive never seen one with a thumb break or Stingray leather. You try different guns in it yet to see what it fits?

Fits a M36 snub, nicely. Little tight on a M19 snub cylinder without lettin the belt out quite a bit.
Fit a Kimber Series 1 Compact Custom 4" nice; of course 2" of barrel projects.
Fit a 4" Colt Diamond back pretty well.
Maybe my favorite was the fit of a Beretta Model 84 380
