Default Finally some holster action

This long Covid **** has put the stopper on a lot of the major gunshows I normally attend. My Buddy Jim has been out rounding up a nice herd of leather and we consummated a guns for leather deal this week. I’ll show the group that I purchased and then post the individual holsters with a lot more pictures of each one. Stay tuned. Bill

2 Myres and 1 Brill but I don't recognize the other two. Who made them?
All five are gorgeous additions to your collection. You must have had some
very valuable guns to trade.

The prize of the group is the S D.Myers lined, carved, and laced “Texas Jockstrap” holster. It fits a 6” K-frame plain or target sighted. It is completely lined in buttery soft, creamy pale elk skin with some distinctive carving on the jockstrap. It also has the very complicated Mexican lacing pattern. Bill

A while back I posted a holster with that kind of lacing and someone
volunteered that it is called braid lacing. I am told that Lobo has a
"How To" video on U-Tube, but I sure wouldn't even want to try it.

It's always good when we use both the inside and outside of the beef! I hope the steaks were as nice as these holsters. Mighty fine.

Here is the other Myers jockstrap that is carved only. It too fits a K-frame 6”. It is a russet color. The third holster is a H.H. Heiser #225 carved shoulder holster that is in beautiful condition and it has been worn a lot. The back of the holster is polished like glass from being worn under the left arm. The Heiser logo is quite worn. It fits a 3 1/2” 357 Magnum. Bill

The next holster I purchased was a beautifully carved and laced with an engraved concho . There are no markings on the holster but I believe that the holster was made in Mexico per another discussion we had on the forum. I think it fits a short barrel Colt. The quality of this holster is superb. Bill

The last holster in this deal is one Ive wanted for a long time, an A.W.Brill . I was also able to purchase a Brill ranger belt. The holster will fit a Colt 03 hammer or an 02 long slide. Bill

That is definitely a terrific holster haul, Bill! I, too, like the lined, carved, and laced Myres the best. I'd vote the Brill as number 2. I went back and looked at your original post because I thought it said "gun" singular, and not "guns". I was thinking that it must have been a really, really, nice gun if only one was traded.😀 Thanks for sharing those gems with us.

That’s a great group of holsters Bill. Have you tried a SAA in the Brill? It sure appears to me that will fit.

Here is a screenshot of a Brill for an automatic from a post by bruce5781. Very different cut on the holster for an automatic.

As I am sure you know, sometimes an autoloader will fit in a holster built for a revolver. Here is a photo of a 1911 in a Brill-a-like built for a 4” N frame. And a photo of the same holster with the correct revolver in it.

The Brill, and most other holsters of the same era, were built with the trigger exposed. It is only a recent a recent phenomenon to cover the trigger.

Bill,
That’s a really early AW Brill. Note the straight machine stitching locking the loop on the welt side of the holster. I think whoever inked the fitment info was mistaken. I’m still betting on a SAA Colt fitting. I don’t remember ever seeing a Brill for an auto pistol not made like bruce5781s example.
It’s a great holster no matter what it fits!

Tim, Ive had all three guns in the past ( 4 3/4 SAA. 1902 military. 1903 hammer ) but I have sold all of them. I’ll just have to try different guns and buy one. The Brill is very flat and I really don’t think the cylinder of a SAA will fit. Bill
