Air Force holster - S&W 686
Just received a new holster from a local leather shop. I really like it. What do you guys think?

That is especially nice, considering your affiliation!

Nice holster, nice work.
But as an old AF fogey, I'm not fond of the origami eagle logo. Give me the Hap Arnold wings any day.

I was wondering about that thing next to my username...My separation occurred in 1969, and I don't recall ever seeing it before... ...Ben

Nice holster and good craftsmanship. I served in the USAF For 20 years most of them in SAC and the "Mighty Eighth" Air Force retiring in 1993 and I'm not a fan of the updated Air Force logo. I prefer the traditional Hap Arnold Wings and WW-II 8th AF logo.

23 years, 10 months even. Just last month passed the point of being retired longer than on duty - both periods have flown by too fast.
A little googling finds a couple holster makers who put the official AF seal on their work, but no Hap Arnold logo. Maybe I need to take up leatherwork.

Same here; I prefer the official Seal, myself, but that looks good and shows your pride in serving. Thanks for that service, BTW.

Very nice, but I too like the original better. Of course I am glad they got rid of the Naval officer rank that was done for a while when the new twisted wings logo emerged.

Nice holster- looks practical and rugged! You are lucky to have a good leather crafter close by.

He wasn't a bad CoS, but his uniform ideas were anathema then, and still today for those who know what a military uniform is...
But I do like the holster - don't care for the new logo, but as a dinosaur in search of a tar pit, you'd expect as much.

AF Brass love to play "designer" and dream up new "looks" for the troops! lol

We had the OD green "pickle suit" utility uniform when I came in and later got camo. During Granada the USA was shooting at the AF troops thought they were Cubano's. Hmm not a good thing said the brass. Was glad to get the camo uniform.

I guess he really wanted to be a sailor, deep down inside. My last uniform was that bus driver suit, but I don't think I wore it more than a couple of times. We generally wore BDU's around the squadron when we weren't flying. My favorite service dress was the one that had the 4-button jacket with four flap pockets. I still have one hanging in my closet, and I've been out 25 years. This was my overall favorite uniform, nice and comfy. My glamour shot, in 1991:

I retired from Air Force in Dec 1985 after 20 years 21 days. Back then was the real Air Force not the politically correct organization it is now. Standards have gone to hell. I was on base recently (Robins AFB) and could not believe the number of over weight airmen I saw. I guess fitness standards have been dumbed down. I'm glad I served during and in Vietnam flying Med Evac and Air Rescue but would not waste my time joining military now. So sad the military is falling apart just like the government.
