I recently purchased S&W pre-war 38/44 Heavy Duty (N-frame) that came with a holster I haven't been able to identify. It is a black leather thumb-break holster with a factory belt slot patch sewn into the backside. In the belt slot patch there is a logo that looks something like an anvil with a circle in it with horizontal and vertical stripes (latitude and longitude?). Below the logo is M-6.

The holster is approximately 10" to the top of the top-break strap, and 4.5" at its widest point. The 2" bottom is open. The snap button is stamped "Pull The Dot".

Any help with identifying this holster, or pointing me in some direction, is appreciated.

You’ve stumped us. I’ve never seen that logo before and couldn’t find any reference to it.

The reason I posted here was because I was stumped. I guess I feel a little bit better that the identification wasn't obvious to everyone (thereby making me feel stupid), but I'm still in the dark. If I find anything out, I'll post it here.

The company may be Universal Leathergoods, 6573 E 31st Place Tulsa OK 74124 in the 80's.

I went down a lot of rabbit holes trying to track down this image, with no success. Thanks for going to the trouble of tracking this down and posting it! You have un-stumped this thread!

Well.... I asked our buddy Red who then connected the leather finish to that seen in a shoulder holster ad frequently seen back then. He reminded me of the model shown wearing the shoulder holster --- and I immediately knew what ad he was talking about.

I'm still trying to find a good picture of the ad, but it's shown in the Gun Digest holster book.

Ha! I figured you were some kind of computer geek who fed the image into a program that searched thousands of pictures throughout the web. Little did I suspect that you would simply ask a guy named Red.

I'm guessing, since the image imprinted on your mind this long, that the model was a "she".
