Default Concealing a 4" K Frame

who in here CONCEAL carry a 4" K frame regularly and what holster are you using? Cold weather is upon us and a little bit of printing is fine. I have used pancake holsters in the past such Galco Combat Master. I didn't like wearing it as it rides too high for my short torso build. What is your favorite?

I use an El Paso pancake for a standard 4” M&P revolver and have for years. I do, however, like it because it does keep the handgun rather high on my belt. For that reason it’s might not suit your needs.

When I started my career in 1968 we were required to be armed off duty & it took awhile to save up $85 for a Colt Cobra. In the interim my Colt OP was carried in a belt holster for almost a year.

4" is doable for me..... but I prefer a 3" 66 or 65 at 4-5 O'clock. 5'8" 165

I've got a Milt Sparks Summer Special...... Spegel sq. butt boot grips.

Depends on your dress...... outdoors with a coat/jacket I like a shoulder holster or cross draw....... unzip and grab butt!!!

I sometimes carry a 4” Model 10 IWB in a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake with IWB loops. Very comfortable and I can remove the loops and carry it outside the waistband when I open carry it around my ranch.

My K frames ride in a Kramer OWB Scabbard, horsehide. Not cheap solution however.

When I started my career I carried a 4” Model 19 in a Threepersons style holster under a sport coat every day, but it’s pretty easy to conceal a K frame with a sport coat. I carried the 19 in a Galco high ride type holster off duty for a short time, then I got a used Model 36 for off duty.

I use a Don Hume H721 open top pancake style holster for my Model 19 - 4". They also have a thumb break retention strap H721 holster.

Default K frame carry

I second on the Kramer Scabbard. Doesn’t ride as high as a pancake. Also the Kramer MSP Paddle. I posted photos of a Kramer Scabbard for a commander so you could see the belt loops and construction. If you still want a traditional pancake the DeSantis speed scabbard is excellent.

I carry a Mod. 15, sometimes, and Mod 64 with a 4 inch barrel during the winter months.
Mostly because its nice to carry the gun that I enjoy, and a K Frame is just that.

I have used both an old Hunter holster, and a Pancake style holster, that carries high, and slightly canted to the rear, depending on where I am, and what I am wearing.
Open carry, as well as constructional carry are both legal here, and while I dont open carry. I try to hide my gun, but most times i dont really care if my carry gun shows a little bit..

The primary holster for my model 65 is an original Roy Baker pancake holster. I am talking of a 1970s specimen.

I 19-2 in a IWB Galco suede. 4 is more stable than a 2.5". When I take it out for what ever reason, It is a bear to get back in. Years ago I gave up on L Frame IWB.

The Threepersons is a good holster. I prefer the Sunday holster as it holds position better on the belt. I wear a 4”, N frame just behind my hip.

Check out Nixon Leather on FB. All his work is custom and I've found the prices to be competitive and he does excellent work. I love mine.

4 inch K frame is not easy to conceal, but it can be concealed.

I use a Lobo Leather IWB Belt Loop to comfortably carry 4" K and K magnums. I added the hammer shield (inner and outer) as well as full horsehide options. Very comfortable to carry all day long with a suitably stout belt. Fast to access and easy to reholster one handed.

I use this Don Hume for my 4" K frame. Pretty comfortable once in a spot you like, around 3:30 position for me.

My 4" Model 65 and the Bianchi 7 that lets it disappear under a Hawaiian shirt.

I primarily use Galco Combat Masters and Miami Classics. Great holsters reasonably priced.

Check out Mernickle OWB holsters. Widely spaced belt loops for flexibility in placement, lower than pan cake ride and includes a sweat shield. While I prefer having a tension adjustment, after it shaped to my body, works quite well.

I have found the best way to conceal a 4-inch K Frame is to swap it for a 2-inch K Frame.

My Lobo IWB Belt Loop for 4"K hides well and is all day comfortable. Presentation is fast and reholstering is sure/safe. Mine has the hammer guard. K frame has smooth Miculek grips; nothing to grab my skin or snag clothing to cause printing. An untucked Hawaiian print or a camp shirt are enough to hide.

Adding to the Barranti suggestion, I’ve used their Summer Classic for N-frames and just started using this one for a 4” K-frame.

Barranti’s slogan of “Comfortable Peace of Mind” is not just advertising blather, in my experience.

I use a Mernickel OWB model for my 3" carry as it holds well even though it does not have a strap over the hammer. A long time ago an FBI agent who was also at one time a range instructor in Quantico told me "Anything which slows your draw could get you killed.", so he showed me how to mould my holster to my gun and at the same time ensure it won't come out if I needed to run. My Mirnickel does that from the floor of the factory.

Tucker gun leather texas heritage IWB at 3:30.

Lol K frame? I carry a 4" 686 and my 5" 627 also fits.

I'm currently around 22% bodyfat and it's still comfortable, but the less obese you are, the less of a problem it is

Never trust anybody that needs 16 rounds of spray and pray to stop a mugging.

Good guys always have stainless and wood. Join the light side.

That said, everybody has different needs and the right holster makes a huge difference. G19 is a fat, long gun.

I like vintage holsters, so here are 5 that I use for my 4" Model 10 K Frame. Left to Right:

Brill
Heiser
Eubanks
Alessi
Heiser
The Alessi is best for concealment.
By the way, the Alessi is on a Chic Gaylord gunbelt.

Back in the day of the revolver and 1911 being the favorite choice . The full size revolver was mostly carried in a shoulder holster with a snub concealed in a waist band for warm weather. The 1911 was carried in both manners.Concealed carry is where today’s small plastic gun have a big advantage over the prior generation of guns.In my circles the only ones who carried a full size revolver on the waist with a shirt covering it was a plain cloths law enforcement officer.

I really like my Ken Null scabbards! They ride tight and the angle is correct. A 2.75" 66 and a 4" 15 easy to do... You will like the little "ear" he puts over the hammer spur.

Revolver Super Speed. How would I know that? See photo

Default Holster for 4” K-Frame

Carry a 4” model 10 or 64 NY-1 in a JayPee or Cobra IWB holster with belt loop. Conceal’s under a tee shirt and stays in place.

Yes sir I should have ID that one. It is a cross draw from Ken for the 66-8.
Thanks.

Eminently sensible.

This Model 10 was born this way.

This old DAO HB Model 64 4" received an excellent facelift to join the 2" world:

The reality check for concealing a 4in K Frame OWB is what you are concealing it under .

For an untucked shirt tail , it is a challenge , and pretty much demands as high a ride ad freasable . Original Magnolia AR Roy's Pancakes do better than all the subsequent reinterpretations .

A sport coat , or winter- ish jacket , lots of options .

A 2 , 2.5, 2.75 , or 3 inch is much more forgiving .
