Default OOPS! I'M DOING IT AGAIN

I recently sold, and gave away, about eighty of my holster
collection, trying to get down to "only" 5 holsters per gun.

But I found myself shopping for holsters again. I'm afraid it's
an addiction I just can't seem to kick.

I have found a beauty. What the maker calls, a mahogany
leather holster, with the most beautiful carved 5 petal wild
rose, in the Sheridan style, that I have ever seen.

It is by Craft Holsters. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with
them, and if so, how did your transaction go?

Sorry Phil!
Can’t help you with Craft, can’t help you with your Holster Addiction.
That sounds like a nice holster.
We need pictures when you get it.

I bought a holster from them for a specific 1911. It would not fit my gun. Turns out the gun manufacturer had made a change to the weapon that Craft was not aware of. They promptly refunded my purchase price in full. They didn't even want me to return the holster.

I was well pleased with their customer service.

@crazyphil have you considered building your own holsters? Leather carving is fun and it's easy to get started. Tandy Leather has stores around the country and they hold classes to get started. Nothing can make you prouder than your own design.

I acquired a couple surplused European pistols last year and fitted them with holsters I bought thru Craft. I think, depending on the pistol and style, you may receive a Vega holster or some other brand. They are good quality.

67Ray - I did try to make a holster 2 or 3 times, but it only convinced me
that I am not a holster maker. Here, below, is the evidence. When I read
Chic Gaylord's book, he showed us how to make a Missouri Skin Tight, so
I made this for my 1860 Colt's Army.

THE PILGRIM - You want pictures? Here is one, from Craft's web page,
illustrating that gorgeous 5 petal wild rose.

Craft came back telling me they make it for a 4" K Frame but not for a
2", which is what I wanted. I tried Lobo Gun Leathers because they do
some very nice carving, but there is a 4 month wait there. Heck, I won't
even buy unripe bananas. I'll soon be 87 and my heart isn't in very good
condition. I'm not certain I will need another holster in 4 months.

Phil,
What kind/type of holster do you recommend for a SS 4" 686? I have a old el cheapo holster for it, that needs replacing. I prefer something lined.

Merry Christmas!

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Ole Joe - Personally I prefer black holsters with my stainless 4" K Frame,
but that's just me. Something like this Tom Threeperson's style from
ElPaso Saddlery. It isn't lined, but that is probably an option.

Phil, resistance is futile. You have the worst case of holsteritis known to man. Best not to fight it. (Plus we all enjoy your informative and beautiful holster posts so ya gotta keep acquiring 'em for subject matter!)
