Default OWB holster for J frame

Hey guys. Looking to get an OWB holster for my M36-1 J frame w/3" barrel. None that I see have any closure or protection for the hammer. The 2 I have are 1960's IWB with snap closures.
Thanks

Try checking the usual suspects like E-Bay and Gunbroker for a Roy Baker pancake style. I carried Colt D-frame revolvers in one made for a 2" J-frame for years. Secure, compact and stable. The three-slot design allowed for straight or angled strong side and cross draw carry.

When I carry my J frame OWB it's in a Desantis Thumb Break Scabbard. Excellent quality, relatively inexpensive, quick shipping from Amazon. I am almost certain this one would fit your Model 36 3". For reference, I usually carry my J frame AIWB in a Lobo offset belt clip. I really like the Lobo, and would buy it again in a minute, but I see no difference in quality between it and my Desantis at half the price. Here is a link to the holster on Amazon.

I use a Kramer horse hide holster for my 3" J Frame. While it doesn't have a thumb strap, the horse hide is stiff and keeps the gun secure. Mine is many years old and shows absolutely no sign of softening. I'm currently wearing it on a cross country hunting trip with stops in several states for upland birds.

It can be tough to find a holster for a 3" bbl. Lobo makes great stuff. They'll have no trouble accommodating your revolver.

I second on Kramer their scabbard is excellent. DeSantis as mentioned by others also good and more moderately priced. Kramer however will still be in good shape when your great grandchildren are wearing it.
Also if you take gun on and off frequently a paddle is a good solution and Kramer makes the best in my opinion in their MSP Paddle which gives you a securing but removable belt loop. Photos are showing their horsehide paddle for my 2.5 inch 66. Pricy but worth it for sure. The leather paddle molds to your body after a bit and is all day comfortable. I have 4 of them for various guns.

As a side note can anyone tell me how to keep my photos which are right side up when I load them from attaching upside down ?

I looked a long time for a Baker Pancake with open top. Baker seemed to
place the cylinders above the belt, which caused tipping outward. When I
finally found this one for my Colt's Agent with 2" barrel, I found out that
the holster is for a 3". My friend Red Nichols told me not to worry, That
extra inch helps prevent the tipping outward, which it does.

I merely wanted to make the point that Baker holsters seem to have the
cylinder above the belt, which causes the outward tipping. Something to
watch out for regardless of who made the holster.

I have four Rodek Leather holsters for various revolvers. Great product for a great price. The holsters are carried daily, about once a month I might switch revolvers, from J frame to three inch M10. Rodek Leather Works, Inc.

Before I would buy a factory holster, I would have what I wanted built by one of the many excellent custom leathersmiths, several on this forum.

Open your picture in Photos. Then trim it to be square. Then re-save it.
Basically, you edit the aspect ratio to be square rather than rectangular.

I HIGHLY recommend Kramer Horse Hide Holsters, Mag. Pouches, Belts, etc. Get the Horse Hide - to me there is nothing better than a Kramer in this material! I have many of them for different guns - worth every single cent!

I have and can recommend El Paso saddlery and simply rugged holsters. Of the 2 I prefer simply rugged these days.
