Default 1791Gunleather

I contacted these folks about an OWB holster for my S&W 3" model 65. They replied that they have one for up to 4" barrels so there would be some extra length. They also have one for a 2.75" barrel with the end open so a 3" will be exposed and some customers weren't happy with the "fit". I know they have a 30-day return policy, but I'd rather not get into that. Anybody using a 2.75" with a 3" 65? Picture with revo in place would be great. Thanks.

Can’t help with your specific questions but as to the 1791 products, I think they are pretty good. I have two of their 1911EMP4/ Commander size holsters and one of their carry belts. The EMP holster is designed for the 4” model and fits with the muzzle flush at the open end. It also accommodates the Commander sized 1911 (4.25”) with about 1/4” of the barrel exposed, as you’d expect. In conversation with them, they pointed out that as the gun seats into the holster it will “sink” deeper, exposing the muzzle a bit. That’s true with My older holster - the muzzle pokes out just a bit. I like their product and their CS.

For a holster of similar quality and price, you might look at a Masters premium leather holsters at holsterama.com.

They offer a 3” K/L frame OWB two position holster. I have the 3” and 4” versions. I managed to see them online for a sale price and paid about 60% of the list price. I am favorably impressed for the money.

I use the 3” for a S&W 386 Sc Mountain Lite which has a 3.125” barrel. A wee bit of barrel peeks below the open barrel channel. I also carry a 2 1/2” 386PD in the 3” version.

L frame fit required breaking in with a HD plastic bag. K frame fit is ok, could be a little snugger. But they have thumb breaks.

Hopefully a link:

Hope this helps.

I see nothing wrong with 1791's products except their limited range of variations. I've looked elsewhere several times since they appeared in stores and on the internet as a result. I did get their $100 moldable IWB for my 3913s with Christmas money, though, mostly because I was intrigued by the concept. It's a nice holster, comfortable to wear and holds the pistol tightly, as you might expect when you do the molding yourself. What's neat is that you can re-mold for another gun if desired. A little overpriced, maybe, but curiosity has a price.
