Holster fit question
Hi-
I recently ordered a Model 60 with a 3" barrel. At the same time, I separately ordered a custom leather holster for it, which can't be refunded.
Fast forward a few days. The Model 60 arrives at the store and is ready for pickup. Only it has a nasty scratch on the frame and has to go back to S&W. No more Model 60s are in stock and my order is refunded in full. I'm disappointed but not heartbroken, as I was having second thoughts about really needing or being able to justify a Model 60.
Since I can't cancel the holster order, will it work for a Model 317 with a 3" barrel (which I also have)? If so, I wouldn't have wasted the holster cost. Don't see why it wouldn't but wanted to double-check. Thanks!

It should if the same barrel length. If it needs to be re-blocked wet the leather with de-natured alcohol, won,t cause problems like water can.

It depends on the maker and style of holster.
Depending upon what model the maker used to form your holster, it might not fit due to the adjustable sights.
I had a fellow build me a custom holster for a Model 22-4. The style of holster depended on the fit of the welt to hold the revolver in place. Unfortunately, their are no blue revolvers model make to mimic the S&W Model 22-4. A model for the target sighted N frame was used and proved to be way loose for the Model 22-4. Fortunately, I had several target sighted N frames so the holster was not lost.

It should fit.
I have a 3” M60 and a 317. I thought front sight height might be a problem, but looking at a photo of my J frames makes me think the fit will be fine. See the photo below.

Thanks for the replies!
Went this past weekend to another gun store and they had a Model 60 pro series in stock! Couldn't resist and now have a gun to fit the holster I ordered.
Sounds like the 317 will also fit so that holster will see a lot of duty.
Thanks again, all, for your replies and good tips!
