Default Help identifying stocks

Hello, long time lurker who has very much enjoyed looking at some of the guns posted up here. I’ve learned a lot from reading over the years.

I’m hoping you guys can help me identify a set of stocks on a M19. I have a buddy that works at a LGS, they just took this in on a private sale. The seller didn’t know anything about the history, it was his fathers revolver.

We were wondering if this was a set of Fuzzy Ferrant stocks? There was no signature or number on the inside, did he sign or have my marks that help identify them?

Thanks for your help!

They may be Farrant, but they could also be the work of John Hurst. Nice! Was the grip frame bobbed?

Welcome! The typical Farrant stocks required a bevel on the front “toe” of the grip frame, does this gun have it?

With the size and contours of these stocks, I am guessing Mustang brand. Interested to see what others think.

I first though Mustang, but I don’t remember ever seeing them with a blind threaded escutcheon. I think these are from the West Coast PD gang.

I don’t recall the frame being bobbed, but we were getting a little excited with what we were suspecting. Got my buddy checking on the frame.

The thinness at the lower part of the stocks is also not Mustang style.

Definitely not Mustang (never used a blind screw), and definitely one of the West Coast guys. I'm leaning towards Farrant, but they might also be Hurst. Picture of the underside might help identify which specifically. They don't appear to be made for a cut frame, but who knows until you take them off.

They certainly appear to be Farrant grips for the reasons mentioned above. Single palm swell, and made for the unaltered frame. Absolutely beautiful.

Here’s a picture of the insides. I can see a “76” and a “0-1” on both panels. The frame was not clipped on this gun.

They are on a P&R M19 so I wonder if the “76” is 1976?

A handsome pair of stocks. They are most definitely the work of Fuzzy Farrant.

After seeing the underside, I would agree they are very likely by Farrant.

Gentlemen, thank you for all your assistance.

My buddy worked a deal with the LGS and is now the happy owner of the stocks. They will be going on his 1970's vintage M15 for a nice Adam-12 clone.
