The extention was made fom scrap leather. The ring that holds everything in line has one stitch of heavy waxed cotton string, and the snaps are from Home Depot

More multi fit holsters
Here are two George Lawrence holster a #120BS - RBH and a #120BS - R44M 61/2". Iv' shown the #120B with several guns, and found that with a couple of my adaptors, it and the #120B 61/2" will fit most of the guns that I own with from 3.5" bbls to 6" bbls. It will fit all S&W K frame, all S&W N frame including .38HD 5" Colt 4".22 woodsman flat side, and round bbls, huntsmans, etc. All Colt 1911 style .45s, Etc. While the #12R - R44M 6.5" Covers the rest of the same guns mentioned with 6" to 8 3/8" bbls. With those two holsters I can fit most of the common Colt 1911s, and revolvers, and most of the S&W revolvers that I own. I call that a championship pair. I have not tried the many models of S&W semi autos, as I do not own any, but i'd bet they would cover most of them also.

No interest
Well, as there was no recognition of my post on the multifit George Lawrance Holsters, and adaptors no one was interested, or believed me, so, I won't bother to post any of the other holsters that will accomodate multiple kinds of guns, and bow out of this thread that I started.

Holster for 38/44 HD
Ran across a Holster for my 38/44 HD, and bought it. Cleaned it up a bit, and put some good dressing on it. I am going to use it with the old HD, that is one year older than I am. The Holster is a George Lawrence mod. 25 L B 8 6, and I hope that it is from the same time era, and is suitable for use with the HD. Here are a couple of pictures.

Cool, I have a Remington Rand, also.
I believe Remington Rand produced more A1s during the war than anyone. Way more than Ithaca, which seems odd.
Love the antique photo. I'll have to figure out how to do that with my 1911 and 1917.
BTW, the 1911 was passed down from my late father, a WWII vet, and the 1917 by my Grandfather, a WWI vet.

If you're going to use it to pout because we didn't all ooh and ah over your holsters, then please do bow out the thread, which, by the way, you didn't start.

A fantasized mail order holster from the early 1900's. Sears, Montgomery Ward and others sold these to a nostalgic public during that era as the old west disappeared. Shown with a 1st Model 44 DA New Frontier from the same period.

I need to start sticking up some of my old ratty vintage leather on here. A whole lot of it fits Smith & Wesson guns and what doesn't fits Colts.
This Heiser was the most recent acquisition, picked up after-hours at the July San Angelo, Texas Silver Spur gun show.
I'm guessing this one is late 1930s or early 1940s vintage from the style of retention strap snap but am not well versed on old Heiser holsters. If anyone can more positively date this holster, I'd be tickled.
Lifting up the holster body to take a peek at the skirt underneath.
This one isn't in just outstanding condition but, despite being 75-85 years old, it is perfectly serviceable if one wanted to use it.
A vintage holster collection wasn't something I ever intended to pursue. A few years back I dug through the holster bin with a view to thinning the herd of holsters that "came with a gun," were given to me, or else picked up used for cheap just to try out or because they were interesting and were now getting in the way. Got to looking at the old markings and had a good time doing so. A quick search on Gunbroker found that some were beginning to be appreciated. So, rather than to send the surplus away, I took to adding the odd additional holster when I found one, almost unconsciously going for vintage holsters from respected Texas makers. Have gathered four more holsters over the past couple of years.

Not real old, but I would guess rare.
Also, not my gun, I have a bright nickle one with black pearl grips
Alessi for a 1903 32 Colt pocket auto, it carries very nicely.

Early Bianchi holster given to Jeff Cooper who gave it to Dan Dennahy (knife maker).
Dan is gone now, I got it from his son.

Not leather, so it is a sacrilege in my book, but it is the first use of kydex in a holster.

Colt Official Police and Clark Holster
Well, I've been wanting to put this steel and leather combination on for awhile, but just got around to taking a few photos today. Not nearly as exciting as some of the earlier posts, but I think it is interesting. The gun is a 1941 (according to Proofhouse, it has not been lettered) Colt Official Police which appears to have been very expertly converted to a 2" snub nose configuration, with a recessed crown, front sight relocated, and apparently tuned, because it has the smoothest action of any of my 10 or 11 Colt revolvers.
The holster was made by Clark in Los Angeles. The package came from the Southern California area, and supposedly belonged to a police investigator.
You can see the recessed crown here, and holster model number. This is, because of its weight an exceptionally comfortable revolver to shoot, and the action is, as I said smooth and silky. The interior of the gun is still pristine and exhibits the quality we find in the pre war guns. If this was indeed made in 1941, it may have predated the attack on Pearl Harbor which marked our entry into WWII. Anyway the modifications appear to have been done by an expert, and it is one of my favorites.

Colt Army Special and Don Hume Jordan Holster
Here is an interesting old Colt Army Special. It has been modified by checkering the front and back straps. Also, the Hammer has been lowered, and widened, and checkered in exactly the same pattern as the grip frame. Also, the front sight has been modified by machining off a very small amount of the sight to provide a slight, sharp ledge which presents a perfectly square, reflection free front sight when viewed through the back sight. Further, the arm appears to have been professionally blued after these modifications were made. There is a small six-pointed star stamped on the right side of the fram, which usually accompanies a factory rework. I believe that all of these modifications were done at the Colt factory. I have not lettered this gun, and cannot confirm these speculations. Pretty cool old shooting iron, though, and Proofhouse says that it was made in 1925. Oh, yeah, it came with a set of Jay Scott faux pearl grips. I added the elephant ivory grips which it now sports. It is really a nice shooting older revolver. It supposedly came from an old retired Baltimore City Police Officer, who used it in revolver completion, and originally carried it on duty.
The holster really doesn't match the vintage of the Colt, and it is one that was made after they dropped the strap and replaced it with a thumb break. But it fits perfectly, and I already had it, so here you go!!!
Here you can see the checkering, which has been professionally applied.

Here's a SD Myres "Texas Jock-Strap" holster I got last week at the Hampton gun show. It's marked with the number 999 on the face of the skirting. It appears that it was made for a 3 1/2" to 4" N frame.
The speed loader in the lower left is a vintage one...stamped "Revolver Cartridge Clip Corp, New York".

Always a pleasure to see you here Linda. Beautiful holster, shown here in a 1940's Myres catalog.

Thanks, John!
Wow, talk about inflation!!
1940 time frame ties in with both the gun and the speed loader. Do you know when Myres quit making this particular model? The name "SD MYRES" is stamped on the front along with "EL PASO, TEX" .... would this help date it? I've seen some holsters with just "EL PASO" on them.

Linda, would you mind posting more pics of the speedloader? It looks like it has a hinge? is it made of steel or aluminum? Any idea what decade it was made and or used? Thanks!

I sure will... I left my camera out with the intention of doing some close-up shots, etc. It does have a spring in the center. I saw one online that linked back to this S&W Forum. I'll see if I can't find it. I think it dates to around 1937-38?? or so.

Linda, I don't think the different stamps are useful in dating the holsters. The model 999 holster appeared in every catalog I have between 1931 and 1968 so dating it is difficult but I think the gun it was made for is as good a way of picking a date as any. If it's with a 1940's revolver and a 1940's speed loader I'm saying it was made in the 1940's.
Regards,
John Witty

Linda:
Great to see you back, with fascinating leather and steel, and superb photography!!! Thanks for sharing! Keep them coming. Glad to see this thread still up and running. I know I can't compete with my iPad camera, and lack of photography skills, but I have some more guns and leather that I hope to post soon.

The holster came all by its lonesome! The 3 1/2 NRM is one that I've had and the speedloader is something I came across a month or so ago. They do look good together, though!

Here's a .38 M&P, pre-model 10 that was part of a U.S. Marine Corp. Contract shipment. It was shipped on December 4, 1953 to the Marine Corp. Supply Annex, Barstow, CA. The backstrap is roll marked "U.S. Property". The black leather holster is stamped US.
Even though it is post-war, this model is sometimes referred to as the "Victory Officer's Model".

That's another beautiful find, Linda. I'm just finishing reading a book on the Korean War, and it looks like this would have just missed seeing service there, but could have very well have served in the Vietnam war. I served from 1965 to 1969, and there were many Victories still in service. Of course most who carried sidearms were supplied with 1911s, but Navy and Marine pilots, for example were often armed with Victories.
Great photo as usual!!! A rare variation on the Victory!!

Thanks, Les!
Early in this thread (post #6) I posted a model 10-5 Vietnam bring-back with a water buffalo "drop-leg" western holster. It was carried by two different Army veterans. It lettered as being shipped to the Boston Army base in August of 1963.
Thank you for your service!

Thanks, I must be getting forgetful, when I went back to post 6, I found that I had been there and 'liked' you. Had forgotten, thanks for the call!! The only 'Victory I have ever owned was a conversion that Cogswell and Harrison in London had done of a Lend Lease Brit .38S&W to .38 Spl. Not a good idea. They just reamed out the cylinder a little, to accommodate the extra length of the special case. It would split the slimmer .38 Spl. cases near the base where the larger diameter chamber allowed them to rattle around when fired. It had come as 'boot' in a trade, and I soon traded it off.
I have often thought that if the right Victory did come along, though, I might be tempted to add a nicer one to the 'accumulation' (rather than collection). Apologies for he thread drift.

Thank you! That's interesting! I collect speedloaders, dump pouches, etc, but have never heard of this.
