Beautiful photo, digi-shots! Here's one I took of my S&W NM#3 (shipped in 1880). The holster is a handmade reproduction of an original from the late 1800's. The fellow who made it for me also used late 1800's methods to make it.

GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY!
In honor of the epic battle waged annually, coming up this Saturday, U.S. Naval Academy versus U.S. Military Academy at West Point, here's a Navy Veteran, a U.S. Navy marked Victory Model, shipped August 4, 1942 to U.S. Navy, Norfolk Va.
The holster is marked "IME MRT Nov 1953", so would be a Korean War vintage piece.
As a Navy Retiree, I have a fond place in my heart for Navy marked revolvers...

1905 HE Target with Elephant Ivory aftermarket stocks and a Eubanks Basketweave rig. Horsehide leather with rawhide whipped mainseam. This design has been reproduced by many, many makers over the years, but is in all likelihood attributed to Heiser as it's original designer. It's been made by S.D. Myres, Eubanks, George Lawrence, Hunter and a host of others, for probably more than a century. It remains a good utilitarian design for the sportsman, hunter and target shooters. The holster and revolver came out of Great Falls, Montana.

Here's a S&W Terrier that lettered as being shipped to Charles Greenblatt Co. NYC., one of the larger S&W Dealers from the late 1940's to 1980's. They were located across the street from the NYC Police Headquarters.
The holster has LAVA, Inc. Police Equipment, NYC embossed on the back.
Frank Lava, Gunsmith & Revolvers was also located across from the NYC Police Headquarters. Here's a pic of the store in 1937:

Nice pic! and a great assortment
That overcoat pocket holster is unusual looking. I've got a similar one for a Colt 1903 but it is open on the butt side, your's looks closed. Is it easy to draw the gun out?

Linda the gun comes out of the holster very easy, the big advantage of the butt piece seems to be covering the magazine release and preventing an accidental drop of the mag.

This is my grandfather's .38 special, shipped from the factory in 1904. Also there is his original shoulder holster. He was a storekeeper in rural Kentucky and wore this rig daily. As you can see, it's seen heavy service. Wouldn't part with this set for the world!

OK, Digi, how about a NYPD M&P, with a Jay-Pee "Suicide" holster:
The revolver is a 1959 vintage .38 Special M&P, one of the bunch of revolvers R.M. Vivas was selling a year or so ago. He bought a whole box (100 or more?)of Colts and S&W M&P's from Yonkers Raceway when they were upgrading thier weapons. Apparently, Yonkers Raceway got them from NYPD, as R.M. Vivas supplied a copy of the NYPD property ledger with this revolver, showing it had been issued to Officer Alexander Sterling on February 25, 1959.
R.M. Vivas also threw in the Jay-Pee holster, once popular with the NYPD. Research shows this wasn't one of the best police holsters issued, the retention device makes it hard to draw the revolver, and the stitching may come apart if you are in a life and death struggle with someone who is determined to get your gun.
I love the history evident in the wear on this revolver, serving a NYPD Police Officer and a "Rough Around the Edges" horse track. It still shoots great....

The photographic talent on this forum is astounding!! There must be a correlation between a S&W collector and a talent in the fine arts.
BRush, those photos are particularly gorgeous .... possibly because I really like those old S&W Model 3 varieties.

It's not a S&W but I have a Model 10 Remington pump that was taken from Birger in a raid and/or traffic stop. It's cut down but not to the point of it's being illegal. It came from the widow of the Deputy who lifted it from Charlie.

Here's a few old Audley's.
Two of Chic Gaylord's personal speed rigs. He wore several of these in photographs in the much celebrated book HANDGUNNERS GUIDE (c.1960)to demonstate drawing techniques and used them for timed speed shooting. Horsehide construction with angled steel reinforced drop shanks. I also have one for a High Standard Sentinel .22, two inch barrel, which he was very fond of.

Here's a S&W WWII British Service Revolver with a tan leather holster & belt.
The holster came with the belt, but is unmarked.
The belt is marked "Hugh Carson Ltd. Ottawa 1929" and is stamped with the Canadian "C broad arrow mark". Charlie Flick, "Ordnanceguy", noted that Hugh Carson was a major producer of leather goods for the Canadian Military during WWI.

I have the same holster for my BSR, as you probably picked out in one of the previous photos I posted in this thread. Mine is darker, almost saddle brown, no markings...but the same. Others on the Forum have suggested in previous discussions that these particular flap holsters were made by Brauer Bothers for the Victory's. The Canadian belt is very, very nice indeed. I especially like the brass findings used for the waist size adjustment. Is that a serpent or some sort of mythical sea horse type creature? Wondering if that might allude to it being Naval in origin? Also wondering if the metal hanger lines up correctly with the grommets of the belt? Very cool period accessory!

Lefty... yes, both holsters look identical. Mine has a brown staple along the stitched edge (top & bottom).
The metal hanger lines up perfectly with the grommets in the belt.
The brass keeper is actually a goose! I have no idea of where the design came from. I've seen a similar design on Civil War CSA keepers.
Special thanks to "gunbarrel" who posted these pics sometime ago on this forum of a Canadian Soldier wearing a similar belt with "brass keeper" :

That is a snake buckle and yes, it was used by the Brits as early as the 1850s. Some British leather was issued to Confederates, such as the Confederate Marines. Other troops received British leather goods as well.

Outdoorsman in a Heiser/VL&A holster
Early post-war K-22 in a Heiser triple loop holster
Model 27 in a Berns-Martin Buscadero rig made for the man who bought B-M & moved it to Elberton, Georgia in the 1960's.

Yes, this holster is the full flap Navy holster for the Victory correctly unmarked. I have no evidence it would be a Brauer Bros production anyway it doesn't match very well with this old style canadian belt. The Army Victory holsters for 4" and 5" are half flap with the big US and manifacturer's name on the back.

Great Berns-Martin, John-great revolver as well.That size revolver is hard to find good leather for.
Here's another Calhoun City B-M,followed by a George Lawrence holster for a Combat Masterpiece.
