For sale is a Smith & Wesson Model 40-1 chambered in .38 Special. This gun is less than two years old and has had less than 5 boxes of ammo fired through it. I would consider it still new to like new in condition. There are zero condition issues. The nickel finish on it is fantastic, reminiscent of the workmanship from the good old S&W days. I'm selling it because I just don't shoot it. It just collects dust in the safe and I could put the money into a gun I'd shoot more regularly or a bunch of ammo maybe.

THIS GUN HAS NO DREADED INTERNAL LOCK. The 40-1 has a grip safety which apparently satisfied both S&W's and CA's needs so the worm hole lock didn't make an appearance thank God. The grip safety works like all others. If you don't depress it by squeezing the handle the gun will not fire.

The gun comes with the original S&W box (matching label on box) with paperwork and empty 38 Spec. case in envelope. Also comes with two sets of grips...the original walnut, checkered, diamond with S&W button grips and a set of bonded ivory grips that I custom fit to the gun. The gun was never fired with the S&W wood grips on it. Also comes with a bushed aluminum Tyler T grip adapter. Also comes with a black basketweave design Don Hume leather holster in like new condition. Also comes with a black basketweave design Bucheimer leather double speed strip holder in like new condition. Also comes with two Bianchi speed strips for .38 Special.

Do you think the bonded ivory grips would also fit an early (1974) Centennial, and if so, would you part with them seperately and for how much?

I'm not sure to tell ya the truth. I'd like to keep them with this package though.
