Default WTS: S&W Pre-29 & Colt 1911 Commercial

S&W Pre-29 Five Screw with 6 Barrel. S153293 serial number this is one of the very early guns. It has Diamond grips, white outline rear and red ramp front sight. It also has target hammer and trigger and was tastefully reblued. This gun is as tight as any new gun and has the good old S&W quality. $1495

1911 Colt Commercial Model made in 1919. The hammer, trigger, take down pin, barrel, slide, grips and 2-tone mag all are correct for this year and slide model. The long hammer is absolutely perfect with the wide spur and checkering and the barrel is very good also.
This is a 90 year old gun that does not have the take down pin mark on the side of the frame. The grips are very good as well. This gun is in excellent shape but the slide has a few small blotches where the bluing is off. Left in a case?? It is just the way I got it. Put another slide on and double this price. $2495

Default maybe not a good idea?

Not trying to be a know it all, but replacing the slide would devalue your 1911. The commercial slides are numbered to the frame.

I think he was trying to say one with a slide in better condition would sell for twice that amount. Not entirely sure though... :>)

I never saw that before...the frame is serial numbered but not the slide. I have a 1917 Commercial which I just had it restored. Someone drilled the slide for a front sight....I looked for a slide everywhere for about 15 years or more. No luck. Then, I found one of the best repairman/restorers in the business, and he made it look better than new....it is amazing.

Sorry to comment in this thread since we are not supposed to, but I just wanted to add some relevant information for your sale since it is next to impossible to find a slide. You are better off having the original repaired/restored.

Cool

Never mind about posting pics of the left
hand slide, The ship has sailed on this one,
at least for me.
Cheers!
