I'm looking to trade my Model 58 and Model 57 for one reasonably correct USGI 1911A1. I'm only interested in a genuine USGI gun, not a modern copy. I'd prefer a Colt, but a Remington Rand would work, too.
At this point I'm also only looking at a FTF deal. With three guns involved (my two and your one) I think we'd all be better off getting an in-person look. That might change if nothing good pops up, but for now I'd prefer a face to face. I live in Farmington, NM, which is here:
I get to Albuquerque regularly, and Santa Fe or Taos would be no problem. Basically I'd be willing to drive three hours any direction for a meeting, so parts of Arizona, Utah, and Colorado are in play as well.
Here are mine. I've posted them in other parts of the forum before. There is also a thread running about "My ugly 57".
First the Model 57. Its an S series and as is apparent it has finish issues. Sometime before I got it, it lost some bluing and received a very minimal cold blue treatment. There are two small pits on the right side. It is a great shooter, but I don't reload and I can't really afford factory ammo.
The Model 58 is much prettier, but it may be a refinish. I got it used, and didn't care either way. The relative faintness of the logo makes me think it may have been reblued. It shoots great. The T-grip is for a different frame size and I've put it on another gun since I took these pictures, so its not part of the deal:
I have one box of factory 210 grain lead ammunition (Remington, I think. I'll dig them out and check if it matters.) I'll throw that in.
Once again, there is nothing wrong with these guns other than what is noted. I just don't shoot them much. I've always wanted a genuine GI 1911A1 of WWII vintage, so this is my chance.
Thanks for looking. Please feel free to contact me with questions.
