For sale: An interesting, relatively rare S&W with a little history of its own.
Made in 1952, with a letter from Roy Jinks of Smith & Wesson to the last owner (a good friend of mine). He in turn purchased it from the Arm Chair Auction catalog, which I also have. It came from the gunwriter Charlie Petty's collection, and before that, Hank Williams Jr.
5 1/2" barrel, .45 acp, blue. I would rate the finish as a strong 90%. Good color case hammer and trigger. Excellent bore and chambers. Some blue wear at muzzle, on left side (from ejected cases ?), thinning on the back strap and under the trigger guard, small amount of pinpoint spotting. The auction listing calls it 99% - in my opinion, that is too high. Nice action, pre-times well. Diamond magna grips numbered to gun. Original somewhat tattered gold box.
Detailed stripped and cleaned by an S&W-certified armorer (me). 50+ years of old oil, etc. carefully cleaned from every part, re-lubricated.
Last sold at auction for $1,750.00.
Asking $1,200.00 shipped to your FFL.
