I am offering for sale my M686-4 with black patridge front sight.
I bought this gun new around 1995 from a local gun shop. It came with a red ramp front sight, which I did not like and wanted to change. But because it was not a pinned front sight, my only option was to have the red insert replaced with a black one.
I sent the gun to the factory, and they returned it with a black glob stuffed into the cutout for the insert. I was not happy, to say the least; so I called customer service to complain. Back to the factory it went, and about a week later I got a call from a factory master gunsmith. He informed me that they had recently made a run of special 6" barrels for the Mississippi State Police shooting team, all with black patridge sights. They had a few left over. Would I like one installed on my gun? You bet I would!
So as you can see, instead of the stainless sight with red insert typical of the guns made at the time, I have one with a pinned patridge sight.
The gun is a great shooter and is cosmetically excellent. I competed with it for several years, shooting lead 38 special target loads in bowling pin and steel plate competitions. It has fired perhaps 300 full power magnum loads.
The only reason I wish to sell it is to fund the purchase of a M617 revolver ( I have two other .357s). The original box, owner's manual, and blank warranty card are included.
I am asking $675, plus $25 for insured shipping within the mainland USA. I will ship only to a current FFL holder. Payment by USPO money order, available at your local post office.
Please review the photos and ask any questions as needed, and post "I'll take it" if you decide to buy.
Thanks!
