Default Scam Alert !!!!!

Folks-
The forum received this alert from a member:

Quote:
To S&W Forum Administrator,

Please inform the Forum users that there is a person out there making phony offers and deals using the name Kori Dunkel from Valentine, Nebraska. The person's email name appears as DM Reese, with an email address of [email protected]. I just got a call from Kori. She indicated that she had received my money order for the purchase of an S&W M-65. She also received two other money orders from two other people, presumably to purchase the same item. Fortunately, I had provided a cover letter with my money order, and she called me to see what was going on. I don't know if the other two people provided a contact number, but Kori's got there money orders. The person running this scam provided a photo of a M-65, makes a very good deal, and requests a tracking number on the money order. The scammer's first communication didn't come through the Forum - I should have been a little suspicious. Any way, it looks like it might work out OK for me - I'll get my money back, but no M-65.
It is obvious that the scammer intended to intercept the money orders since they are addressed to a real person NOT involved in the scam.
I questioned the informant about how contact was made and was informed:

Being new to the forum, I'm sorry to say that I had included my email address in the ad I placed, so the person contacted me offline from the beginning. My mistake. That should have tipped me off. I've learned my lesson - the hard way.
Be careful placing WTB ads.
Scammers scour the net for them.

I just checked my email account, because something about those names sounded familiar. I had posted a WTB ad on the Colt Forum & Gunboards looking for an original pair of Colt 1917 stocks. A guy named "Dunkel" contacted me saying he had a pair for a decent price. There was something funny about the guy so I told him that I was passing. The email title name was DM Reese and the email was [email protected]

This same person responded to my recent thread "WTB .22 shooter". He said that he might have what I was looking for. I asked for photos, and never heard from him again. Definately a scammer, but not a very good one.
