Default WTS: Pre 1898 Webley Mark I .45 acp DA revolver

Best of both worlds, pre 1898 Double action Webley Revolver originally in .455 rechambered to .45 acp.

This isn't a collector as much as it is a fully functional shooter that is technically an antique.

This Revolver is in great shape, the sharp edges have the bluing worn off, and there is some light pitting on the cylinder but over all it looks like it has 85-90%+ of its finish left.

But the fantastic part is its functionaliy, you can shoot it single or double action, with 45 acp in moon clips or .45 auto rim.

Due to its age there is no requirement for purchase permit or cpl. Which makes this a highly desirable revolver. And it can be legally shipped to an individual via USPS

very nice looking revolver, but Mark 1'a are not proofed for modern 45 acp loads.

The Webley was a very rugged and powerful revolver. The military loadings were smokeless and some of them utilized a 265 grain projectile at 750 fps. They were rated superior to the .45 Long Colt during military testing. But by the definition it is a conversion, so it would not have proofed in anything except its original caliber.

Although I have owned it for over 30 years and have enjoyed shooting it with mild cast loads, I have fired military FMJ through it.

Gasp! you say!

the Webley smokeless military loading of a 265 gr projectile at 750 FPS produces 330 ft/lbs of muzzle energy and roughly the equivalent pressures of a standard 230 FMJ at 800-850 .45 acp loading which produces ~350 ft/lbs of muzzle energy.

This isn't the appropriate firearm for everybody.

The historical fact is that the first Webley built to shoot smokeless ammunition was the Mark V. The Mark 1 was never proofed for smokeless loads in any caliber.
