Offered for sale is this beautiful Smith & Wesson 2206TGT .22LR semi-automatic target pistol. If you know S&W .22s, then you know this gun as the
piece de resistance of the 422/622/2206 series of Smith production pistols from the Houlton, ME facility.
Produced only for a short time (1994-1996), the 2206TGT rarely comes up for sale now, as collectors hoard them and shooters value their accuracy, good looks, and custom features -- Millett adjustable sights, Herrett walnut target grips, and factory drilled and tapped slides for adding optics on aftermarket rails that are still easily available.
The 6" barrel 2206TGT should not be confused with the 6" barrel "target" (as opposed to "field") edition of the 2206 that has S&W factory adjustable sights identifiable by a long tang that was riveted or screwed into position, and either plastic, rubber or walnut checkered grips with the S&W logo. Though fine pistols in their own right, those 2206 models were produced in fair greater numbers, for over twice as long, and without the upgraded Millett sights fitted into a machined dovetail, the high-end Herrett smooth, finger cut grips, and the additional top slide milling, drilling, and tapping of the 2206TGT pistols.
The example being offered comes in its original, marked blue S&W box and with two 12-round magazines, distinguishable by their orange followers. Also included in the sale are a set of replacement springs and a replacement firing pin, both purchased by a previous owner and still in their plastic packaging. (Like all rimfire pistols, the 2206TGT should never be dry-fired, as there is a risk of firing-pin breakage. The installed pin in this pistol has been proven reliable in firing of about 200 rounds since I have owned it.) An owners manual and the orange plastic take-down assist plug also are included in the sale; both are believed to be original to the package, as are the magazines.
Cosmetically, the pistol is in outstanding condition as shown in the photographs. While it has been fired, this 2206TGT is an excellent example of this rare, and rarely available, Smith semi-automatic pistol, and is both collectible and a great range gun.
This 2206TGT package is offered shipped and insured by USPS Priority Mail, from my FFL to yours. A three-day inspection period is offered from the time of delivery to your FFL, with a full refund if you are not completely satisfied with the pistol as described and photographed here. Payment is by USPS money order or personal check to clear before shipment.
