SOLD - WTS S&W Pre 29 4 screw blued finish 6 1/2 bbl with blue case

Offered is a minty, first year of production Smith and Wesson Pre model 29 revolver in 44 magnum caliber complete with the original blue leatherette case. This is the classic Dirty Harry make my day pistol. The pistol has the deep mirror blue finish of the period, the classic 6 1/2 inch barrel with perfect bore, four screw frame, target trigger, target hammer, target sights and those beautiful Coke grips you have come to expect with those early N frame post war Smiths. The cokes are original finish, and are beautiful. The original blue leatherette case has great exterior finish and sharp corners, but some wear to the lining.

This pistol would be tough to upgrade. Buyer pays shipping. 3-day non firing inspection. The cylinder is numbered to match the pistol. And no, there are no refinish markings from S&W under the grips and no rust either

Priced at $2500 plus shipping which is what I have in the pistol.

All, there have been quite a few sidebar comments about my pistol indicating that ALL 1956 pistols are five screw models and my pistol thus MUST have been made in 1957 or later. Thank you all for your comments, opinions and criticisms.

My information came from The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 3rd edition. My pistol serial is S170256. Page 397 of the book indicates that 1956 N frame production was from S150000-S175999. Thus it would date to late 1956. Also, from page 162, five screw pistols were from S130000-S167500 but are found as high as S174500. Thus one would suppose that this pistol was made during the transition period between four and five screw models, in late 1956 or early 1957. Your mileage will vary. I collect Lugers and this is my only N frame.
