RARE: 2nd Generation ROUND TRIGGER GUARD Colt 1851 Navy “C” Series
For sale is a .36 caliber percussion Colt 1851 Navy revolver, part of the 2nd Generation guns Colt made in the 1970s. It has a 7.5 inch octagon barrel, hinged loading lever, six-shot cylinder with roll engraved naval battle scene, “C” Serier Royal Blue barrel and cylinder, case color hardened frame, loading lever, plunder, and hammer. Silver plated backstrap and walnut stocks.
What makes this gun very rare is that it is one of only approximately 100 made with a round trigger guard. The only other way to get this kind of gun with a round trigger guard is to take a Robert E. Lee commemorative and separate it from the set.
Condition: Excellent overall. Case color hardening is superb, approx 85% of silver plating still present on backstrap, miniscule evidence of cylinder turning. Grips are in great shape except for two small dings on the bottom of the left side, one at front and one at back. Original packing grease/lubricant still present under loading lever and on back of cylinder.
With only 100 of these made, they don’t come up for sale very often and tend to command a premium. As such, I’m pricing this gun at $1,500 or best reasonable offer. (Price was $1,800.)
