Default Colt M1909 US Army 45 Colt

Colt M1909 US Army for sale. One of the rarest martial Colts, and the last US military revolver in 45 Colt. 10,000 made between 1909 and 1911, all but 350 were shipped directly from Colt to the US Army depot in Manila, Phillippines and used in combat. I obtained this one several years ago from an 85 year old gentleman who's grandfather carried nit as his service weapon n that campaign. Finish is original Colt high polish blue, showing holster wear in all expected areas, but no rust, scratches, etc. All inspector marks, acceptance stamps and lettering are sharp and clear, screws are sharp and straight, no indications of any re-bluing or touch-up blue. Original grips were replaced decades ago with a nice set of stag grips, very well-fitted to the frame. The cylinder bolt was reshaped many years ago (a popular "tuning" modification to S&W revolvers in the 1950s and 1960s, but not truly applicable to Colts, though many thought it was); this resulted in the ability to rotate the cylinder in reverse when "at rest," but it has the Colt "bank vault" lock-up in firing position. Carry-up and timing are excellent. Bore is shiny and bright, with well defined rifling. I have fired the gun, using standard factory .45 Colt ammo, and it is accurate, about 2-2.5" at 25 yards offhand. $2,750, FFL ot FFL shipping and insurance at buyer's expense. Payment via major bank bill pay preferred, or US Postal money order. FTF to Arizona residents in Show Low area available.
