Up for sale is a very well preserved Smith & Wesson .38 Safety Hammerless Second Model, dating from 1887.
The serial number of this gun is 57xx. Serial numbers for Second Model top-breaks start at 5001, making this pistol one of the newer ones in the production run.
This pistol has a 3 1/4" barrel with fixed sight, excellent clean finish, lovely engraving in the New York style (engraver unknown), and genuine antique ivory grips.
The ivory grips are extended length for larger hands and have a beautiful warm carmelized color. The gun is missing a cap screw, but aside from that it is tight and in excellent condition. This is an antique and I have not shot it, therefore a professional gunsmith inspection is advised prior to shooting.
Price: $750.00. Payment by PayPal invoice sent to your email after posting "I'll take it".
This revolver is being sold AS-IS, along with the holster shown in the pictures. The antique ivory is period-correct and as the grips are fitted to a gun there are no federal restrictions regarding interstate sales. However, I cannot keep up with state level legislature so the buyer is responsible for possible restrictions in his/her state of residence. This is an antique, and ships with no FFL to your door. Shipping is $50 by FedEx, Signature Required, Second Day to lower 48.
