Edit: sold pending funds
I have a S&W Model 28-2, 4-inch barrel, marked NYSP, .357 magnum for sale. I don't know the round count but the gun doesn't appear to have been shot much. The serial number is N547175 which dates it to 1978--1980 according to
this thread. This revolver doesn't appear to have the standard sights for the NYSP marked 28-2. Everything I've read about the 28-2 NYSP states that they came with a red ramp front sight and a white outline rear sight, this revolver has neither. I did find examples on the forum of two 28-2 NYSP's with the same sights as mine
here and
here. Also the grips are not the original magnas. One of the grips is stamped "Aug 19 1983."
The finish on this 28-2 is in good shape with a light turn line. There's no outright rust but there is some freckling near the NYSP marking and the slightest start of a freckle in front of the cylinder release (see close up photo). There is also apparent holster wear on the cylinder and front of the barrel. The white specks seen in some of the photos are dust, I couldn't seem to keep it off while I was taking the photos. The gun is sound mechanically. The bore is shiny, lockup is tight, and the timing is good. I will include a Bore-Store gun rug with the 28-2.
This is for just the revolver, no box, no paperwork.
I am not looking for any trades at this time.
