I'm hating to part with this one. This gun shipped from the factory in Oct. 1974, per Roy Jinks. Per Roy, this did not ship to Jovino and the shipping date preceded the time Jovino was ordering M25's specifically to remodel. This gun could have been shipped by the owner to Jovino for the mod. Alternatively, the man who actually started this remodel design was Austin Behlert who was published as early as 1972 doing thise. There are no other markings on the gun to indicate who did the work. With that caveat, the follwoing mods have been done: Barrel is 2.7", the grips frame has been modified to take K RB grips, the hammer spur has been rounded, the trigger has been smoothed, the front ejector rod lock has been removed, and a crane lock (ball & detent) has been added. These mods correspond to the to the mods on a lettered Jovino that I own with only one exception: on the verified Jovino the locking ball and spring are mounted on the ejector shroud with the detent on the crane. On this gun, the positions are exactly reversed but the ball mounts appear identical.

The action is smooth as glass. The gun is tight and operates correctly. The finish is excellent--the gun appears to have shipped in glue. Sorry for the oil smears in the photos...I though I had a dry cloth when I wiped it down.

SPF Here's another duplicate that I hate parting with. According to most sources, S&W only produced about 1200 of this model. Variously called the 4th Model 44 or the Model of 1950 44 Military. This is clearly a "shooter" grade... hence the price. Finish is old nickel over original blue. Grips are correct but don't number to the gun. Other numbers match. Finish is worn with a few dings and scratches. Action is tight. I feel the gun looks better in hand than it shows in photographs. This seems like it would have been a cop gun, but I haven't lettered it. New owner probably should.
