Smile SOLD! WTS: 38/44 Heavy Duty Transitional model - 4 inch

For sale is my 4 inch S&W .38/44 Heavy Duty. I purchased this from another forum member last year. I'm freeing up some cash to purchase some youth model guns for my kids. This has NOT been rechambered to 357 magnum. This example has the long throw hammer but has the four-line address on the frame. It probably left the factory sometime in '49. Overall the exterior finish is worn and shows what I think is extended holster wear/storage. The finish is thinning but the pictures don't show how dark the finish still is. It looks better in "real life". There is no pitting that I can find. Internal parts look new. There's even a little case color still present on the serrated trigger. I've installed one .002 inch end shake bearing and had the hand replaced by Gunsmithing Only in Shawnee Kansas. The face of the cylinder is not quite square (off by ~.0005) so it did slightly rub the top of the forcing cone before the bearing was installed. Gap is fine now. Lock-up is like a bank vault. It's tighter than when my modern 629 was new. Timing is great and it's a very good shooter. The grips are Magnas but not correct ones. All serial numbers match except the grips.

Asking $820 shipped to your FFL.
I am letting this go for less than I have in it. I can email more pictures if necessary. Please feel free to ask questions. I have this listed locally as well.

I'm willing to meet in Topeka, KC area or Wichita but my schedule is tight.

I might consider trading for a nice 6 inch 28-2. Let me know what you've got.

Model 25s and 625s are also interesting. A 625 model of 1988 might be nice.
Glock G40 would be good too.

Let me know what you've got. Thanks.

A 6in 686 Plus per lock model would be interesting as well.

I'd also consider (dare I say here?) a Ruger Bisley Hunter .44 mag or Bisley .357 mag.
