An unusual 6" model 53-2 with (3) cylinders. This early 1970's .22 Jet has its original .22 Jet and auxiliary .22 LR cylinders plus a fitted .22 magnum rimfire cylinder. The revolver and all cylinders are in excellent condition with perfect timing and lock up. The bore is bright with sharp lands and grooves and no throat erosion. It apparently has not been fired much and retains approximately 98% of its original factory bright blue finish. Comes with RR/WO sights, .500" target hammer and trigger, Goncalo Alves presentation stocks and a Boyt pistol rug with two zippered compartments for the extra cylinders. I purchased the revolver several years ago from the estate of a serious S&W model 53 collector whose heirs could not find the original box and paperwork. I have shot it with all three .22 caliber cartridges and found it to be extremely accurate (1/2" - 3/4" groups at 25 yards) with all three. I understand a .22 MRF cylinder was never cataloged or offered for sale by S&W, but have heard of at least two other examples of .22 MRF cylinders which Smith & Wesson provided to their distributors. Several boxes of original Remington 40 gr. JSP factory ammunition are also available to the buyer if desired. Additional photos available via email upon request.
