Default SPF - Reduced - Model 629-2 Mountain Revolver

SPF
*** Several people have contacted me off-line with trades and other proposals. I probably should have stated in the original that this is not my revolver. I am selling it for the widow of a close friend who passed away the first part of the year, which is why no trades, etc. Didn't want to have a sad story but in the interest of clarity should have posted that. Sorry. She wants to sell it and get another "thing" in the estate settled. So we talked and she authorized the reduction.***

For sale is a Model 629-2 Mountain Revolver in .44 magnum with a 4” tapered barrel. This is one of the first group of taper barrel, stainless steel .44 Magnums made in 1989. Per the SCS&W 4th edition, this is Product Code 103652. Only the first group were the Mountain Revolvers; the follow-on editions were Mountain Guns and had features that varied.

This revolver is a shooter and has been shot some but not a lot. There is no endshake, and timing and lockup are good. I know it has been a safe queen for the last 15 years. There is a distinct turn ring, and the trigger face has been smoothed and polished, as was popular 30 years ago. The grips have been changed from Pachmayr SKGR round butt grips to the more compact SN-IC type. There are no finish issues, other than a slight brightening of the stainless steel at the edge of the muzzle and a few tiny rub marks from storage that stainless steel is subject to.

It has the new yoke retention system and the radius stud package which were the first partial implementation of the later Endurance Package. It has the advantage of being at the beginning of the implementation of CNC machining which tightened up tolerances. It also has the classic features of forged - not MIM parts, a hammer mounted firing pin, and no lock. All lettering and logos are roll-marked or stamped rather than being laser etched.

If you are looking for a comparatively easy to carry yet powerful revolver with a really good mix of modern and classic features, this one should be considered. It is priced at $995.00 including shipping from FFL to FFL via USPS, unless you wish to make other arrangements. A USPS money order is requested for payment. Not looking for any trades.

I am happy to discuss the revolver offline. All forum rules apply, so the first “I’ll take it” in this thread gets it.
