I have been asked many times to sell my 617 Mountain Guns, especially by those wanting to complete a collection.
From what I have been able to find out, around forty some of these 617 Mountain Guns were made, and less than 40 were sold to the public. The guns were offered by one distributor, who allowed only one 617 Mountain Gun to be purchased per day. I happened to buy one the first day, when the guns were still available the next day, I purchased another, so I have two.
Many buyers used these guns like any other 617, plinking, adding scopes, changing grips, so VERY few NIB examples can still exist. My two 617 Mountain Guns have only been removed from the box to check the serial number, and take a few photographs.
I have more pictures and if you need more just let me know what you would like to see and I can get you additional pictures.
Considering that the Ashland is considered rare, and 200 of those guns were made, less than 20% of that number of Mountain Gun 617's exist,, this is truly a Unicorn.
Payment will be by Money Order, or Certified Check, due to the amount, my bank will verify that the check has totally cleared, before the guns ship.
Shipping is from my FFL to your FFL I have my local FFL that will assist in this sale of the 617's. Only sales where legal. It is the buyers responsibility to make sure the gun is legal where they live.
Smith & Wesson Model 617 Mountain Gun. The cylinders were only opened to verify serial numbers, and for a few photos, Neither trigger has ever been actuated since I acquired them from the distributor. Please let the photos speak for the condition. I do have the boxes and documents, and these are truly Holy Grail revolvers. Obviously, the grips are original.
$20,000.00 for both 617 Mountain Guns , Shipped to your FFL
If necessary, I will offer these individually, but, I would imagine the true collector would prefer to own both of the 617 Mountain Guns.
In my opinion, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a S&W Mountain Gun collector.
