For sale is a 1970 Remington 581 bolt action clip fed 22lr (with one 5-round magazine clip and an era correct Bushnell 3x-8x ScopeChief 22 scope).
Professionally re-blued and placed in a nicely finished walnut stock from Gunville in NC.
The older Remington 580 series (580,581 and 582) are considered to be very accurate guns. I haven't shot this gun since I had it re-blued/finished because it's just too nice looking and I didn't want to get my finger prints all over it.
$420 shipped ($35 more if your FFL requires shipment from my FFL).
Someone also asked whether the assembly was "bedded." It is not. The only thing I did was cut some rubber from a bicycle tube and used it as a somewhat temporary bedding where the receiver meets the stock, and up front where the barrel meets the stock. It seems to work. I read this somewhere in a gun magazine that it worked just as good as a permanent bedding. I don't feel comfortable doing a permanent bedding job and I didn't want to ruin anything so I went this way (see pics).
Additional note: Metals on the original Remington 580 series were prep'd with a 450-600 grit before bluing. This one was prep'd with a 1,200 grit. That's why the finish is a darker and smoother bluing than the original.
