W/D, to auction: 4 Digit Serial 1917, Shipped Dec. 1917--Added photos
Early S&W 1917 US Army, US Property marked, grooved (like on Reg Mag) hammer and dished grips. Both of these features disappeared early on. Nice condition, all original, all matching including pencil marked grips. Offered with or without original holster & moon clip pouch. There are some handling or storage marks on the barrel, front and back straps which I have tried to accurately show in photos. The serial is 59xx which shipped in Dec. 1917 per Dr. Jinks. The inspector's mark is shown in the photo showing the hammer closeup. The action is tight and smooth.
The holster is in good condition with no damage. My tag says "G&K" but I couldn't find the mark when I did the photos. The moon clip pouch is marked R.H. Long 10?-18 I'll include 6 half moon clips. These accessories are only being offered with the gun.

I have been asked about the grip frame damage so I have taken additional photos in sunlight to show areas on the grip frame and barrel. On reexamination it appears that the portion of the butt that the holster leaves exposed may have gotten wet at some time, and that my original belief that the damage was from abrasion may not be correct. Bear in mind that this was an early issued gun when the end of WWI was almost a year away. In addition to posting these photos I have reduced the price.
