This model is one of the rarer post-war Colt DAs, built in very small numbers from 1949 to 1952 when it was replaced by the Officers Model Match(Officers Model Fifth Issue) which was built from 1953 to 1969. Differs from its successor in using a heavy, non tapered barrel while the next series used a heavy tapered barrel. The Officers Model Special uses a Coltmaster adjustable rear sight (the Match used a slightly different Accro rear sight)
The above information is the extent of my knowledge of this Colt, I can also confirm that the trigger action is very sweet right up there with the S&W M17,18's and Outdoorsman.
