FYI, the hammer isn't original, either. It's from a later gun. Yours should have the upturned spur.

I have been absent from the forum for a month. As for the K22, I just need $, otherwise I'll prolly keep the gun, I also am susceptible to P08 Lugers.
Apologies for the lapse in responding.
As for the upturned spur hammer my K22 "should" have, thanks for the FYI.
Not a Smith expert here, I personally prefer the wide target hammer for shooting, and since the grips are not original, it is obviously not an otherwise all-matched piece. Just a junky old shooter. :-)

I just picked up a 48-2 in almost perfect condition. It is one of the nicest handling and shooting revolvers I have ever owned. Much nicer balance and better pointing than the newer full-underlug model 648's (I owned two of those but found them to be to muzzle heavy). Somebody please snap this up, quickly. You will not be sorry.

Stainless would be great for durability and corrosion resistance, but the deep blue of an older Smith is a beautiful thing to behold. Certainly worth the additional effort to maintain. Somebody please buy this before I do (so I can have one for each hip!)
