REDUCED TO $700 PLUS SHIPPINGA non-internet-savvy friend of mine asked me to sell this pistol for him. It is a very nice Model 1896 with mother of pearl grips. It has been renickeled based on some light finish imperfections/light pitting under the nickel, althouth the refinish was a high quality job. There is a star mark on the left side of the butt under the grips. There is also a star mark on the barrel flat by the serial number. The extractor star is blued. The hammer and trigger might be blued or might be old case - it appears to be a dark gray. I'm not sure how S&W was finishing hammers and triggers on this model. It has genuine mother-of-pearl grips. The bore is pitted, but you can still see rifling. While there are some finish blems (you can see most in the pics), this gun presents itself in hand as a very nice revolver.
The serial number is 5682. If someone can supply me with documentation that this is definitely an antique, I'll be happy to ship it as such. Otherwise, it will have to go to an 01 FFL or C&R. Price is $750 plus actual shipping (Fedex Ground if antique, Fedex Overnight if not). First "I'll take it here" followed by an email to me gets it. Thanks for looking!
