With the trail-cam up a week, we already have a "wall hanger" hanging out!! This is good. I sent pics to my 12 year-old nephew to help him get fired up for his upcoming hunt!!

By the looks of his eyes there is a flash, doesn't that make them skittish and scare them from the area?? (i know little to nothing about deer hunting)

Yes & No...I've found the first flash kinda "weirds" some of the deer...but usually not. Infrared does the same thing. I've had no problem getting pics...500+ in two days. Depending upon the trail-cam, you need to have your bait close if you want to catch them in the flash, this cam's flash is pretty poor out past 7yds...daylight is no problem.

It's an older cam...Bushnell Model 11-9200 Trail Sentry 2.1mp. I imagine you could do much better with newer technology. However, this one does me just fine and if you find one, expect them to be WELL below $100.

That buck is way to easy a target....that's why I only hunt preemies...I picked up this fellow with my hands after I missed him at 60 yards with a full mag from my AR....

Nice buck Bob, hope you or yours gets him. What I find is, the bucks that I see in the fall, are never around during the season. I see other bucks but never the monster I spotted.
One year, in my backyard, I saw 2 eights and a ten. The next year all I saw were spikes and 4's.

I shot an eight point buck this past season in Kentucky that could be that buck's little brother. Same long brow tines ending with curving tips, made a rather unique mount.

Looks like an older deer, he's got a pretty good sized head, and a little sag along his back.
He'll become scarce once the folks start trampling in the woods, but they don't become old by being dumb.

I've been studying up on all the cams over on those websites
the last few days.. I think I'm still about as confused as when I
started when it comes to deciding which to buy. :/
Lots of good info over on that trail cam forum, but you have to
weed through it and try to absorb the reports.
At first I was kind of leaning to the Bushnell 3.0 which is basically
about the same as your 9200, except 3 mp..
But then I got to thinking about the white flash alerting possible
thieves to the cam at night. So I started leaning to a red blob unit.
The WGI IR4 started to look good, and it's fairly cheap. Good pix
reports, fast sensing, etc.. But.. The reliability reports don't look the
greatest. Many seem to be returning them due to various faults.
So I'm kind of paranoid of those for now even though they seem
good when working.
So I'm still looking.. One that has my attention is the Skypoint IR-A
6 mp cam. It seems to be fairly rugged, and has a pretty bright IR
flash. Fairly decent reports. But it's a tad bit more than my $150
max target. I can get one for $169.. But I'm still trying to find out
how reliable they are. I think I'd rather pay a tad more for one that
doesn't flake out, rather than buy a cheapy and have most of it's time
running back and forth from the service dept.
I dunno.. I'm still pulling hair trying to decide. I'm real picky when
I buy electronics gear. Kind of like a dog that circles his bed about
15 times before lying down.. :/
Whichever one I get, I want it to have a fast reaction time.
Preferably 2 seconds or less. Most all the Bushnells do well in that
regard. Dunno.. Maybe I should just forget the red blob, buy the
$70 Bushnell 3.0 and take my chances with the possible thieves..
I could buy two of those for less than the Skypoint and watch two
areas.
I do note from some video that white flash does spook deer worse
than IR.. But on the other hand, most users of white flash still seem
to grab a lot of good deer shots. But mine will be for general critter
use, and not just deer. The WGI IR4 seemed to be great at sensing
critters of all sizes. When it works.. :/

A little info about Vonfatman and the hunter he is. Bob is not a trophy hunter. He gets about the same kick from you guys enjoying the pictures as he would shooting this buck. He would also get the same joy for some kid or new hunter to harvest this buck as if he shot it. Maybe more if a kid got it. If he sees it he might shoot it, if not oh well. If he gets a shot on this buck, it will only require one.

Bob is a great teacher of hunting and shooting and has introduced many to the sport. He is also very aware of nature and understands the woods. If things go bad and one must live off the land, Bob will eat just fine.
