I know this may belong in the Ammo section but i'll ask here first. What is the going rate for an original box of Remington .22 Jet ammo? I've seen it as high as $85, is that unreasonable?

Before ammo came in short supply,50.00 a box seemed to be the going rate in my area. Last show I attended I found 2 boxes for 65.00 and 60.00. I passed since I reload for my Jet. $85.00 seems high unless something is unique about it.

I study it. For the last 10 years the standard asking price has been $75 a box. It sells for less, frequently. At the OGCA show, I saw several boxes with $75 price tags. Lee had a few and I think he was asking $50 a box. I saw 4 boxes across the room at $45. That's the best price I've seen for Remington factory stuff in a long time.

My methodology is different. I go to shows and actually seek out partial boxes. In the past, I was finding boxes with as few as 6 shots gone selling (not asking price) for as little as $30. And half boxes with the other empties as low as $20.

The last two Dayton, OH shows I attended a vendor had Hornady Jet bullets (.222s). One wasn't full, had about 70 bullets for $10.

If you're serious about shooting Jets, you need to learn to scrounge. Its rewarding. My fanaticism here has also yielded some good results. Several of our posters were former Jet owners and gave me some very nice presents. Memphis brought me over 100 rounds (reloads)! Ammo is scarce. Pride has no place in the search for more.

A scrounger I am Dick, just finished a complete inventory of ammo and components acquired/accumulated over the past 20+ years. Incredible.
My biggest problem now is getting everything back in place to where it came from. I found an entire box of 20 OK brand, new in wrapper AR mags, have no idea where or when i got them, had to be in '89 or '90, also .45 schofield brass, nib, never owned one no idea of origin or planned use. I've got brass and bullet for calibers I don't even own, but have picked up die sets for over the years, also lead round ball moulds. I've never owned a BP gun, those came with a big box of moulds and casting equipment I got around 15 years ago, I'll never use them. Got ton's of lead, lino and WW, I have a storage place with **** stacked in it.
My Wife keeps telling me she's going to put those "Hoarder" TV people onto me, but I think they would run away.
I've picked up a good supply of Jet brass and 2K bullets, should keep me going, just started reloading for it, hoping to shoot next weekend at Dad's place. Looks like an interesting project for the handloading, pretty excited about the prospects.

I've even got a custom mold for 1" round balls!! Did you know that a 1" round ball weighs 4 oz? Its a quarter pounder! Just like at McDonalds. But unlike you.....I have a cannon that will shoot it! Its called the heavy artillery here at the house.

I guess the weather is bad where you live. I only do my inventory when its too miserable outside to do something else. And I have exactly the same results. I stumble on things I didn't know I had, have no idea where or when I acquired them, or what I will ever do with them. And the opposite occurs just as often. I know I bought something but can't find it. No matter how hard I look, its just gone.

The organizers they sell are just worthless. Their made for paper or women's shoes. 40# of lead just deforms things and breaks its way to the floor. Except ammo cans. Those stack and hold up to almost anything.

When the ammo shortage went full out, I started inventory. That was back in the dead of winter. Its funny how we get things in our mind, like we're suffering from a severe shortage of 175gr 7mm or 180gr .308 bullets. I guess at one time in the past that was the case. So I just began picking up a box whenever I saw them. I guess I need to scale that back a bit.... I have way too many.

Anyone know when Barnes went from 100 down to 50 bullets per box?
